Runs 13:18.7x tonight and people are giving him shit?

Against a guy who has run almost 13:00? Who is at least two years older? No one seems to question LaLang's age?

Other than Rono who was 24/25/26 when he was kicking people asses and folks on here worship him, he has done pretty well as a 20 year old frosh.

and for the uninformed ,Ches often looked like that arms flapping when he was out of gas in HS or running 1:49.x

He could have easily laid back for second and he never gave in, off 13:20's pace. and you're right, I have become a fan, was not always.

I'm a 1:50 800 guy, when I go out in 65 I can kick really hard!!!. When I go out in 49 I struggle kicking as hard and seem to close really slowly. I think I have the same problem you're describing. Or maybe I'm just bat shit dummmmm like you.

You got to give it to King Ches! He has come a long way. Remember when Lawi broke the 5000m NCAA indoor record, recording 13'08? King Ches could only manage 13'57 that day! Fast forward a little over two years and King Ches almost takes down Lawi! And that is after taking down Kennedy Kithuka in the 10000m two days ago!

How good is Cheserek? I am wondering if he could go sub 13:10. I was not thinking this guy could be an elite Kenyan but now I wonder.

We still don't know what Ches can do in a DL type rabbited gravy train race, but after tonight I'm thinking 13:02-4. Maybe not the fastest Kenyan junior ever, but he is something special for sure.

Lawi ran a great race no doubt about it. It was clear from how close it was at the end that Lawi HAD to run this type of race to beat Ches. But he wouldn't had the time he did without Kithuka and Ahmed taking the lead for stretches and without Ches running his best time ever and pushing Lawi very hard at the end.

Ches, who also broke the 35 year mark for the 5k as a frosh and now has 4 titles and a 2nd place finish is a phenomenal athlete and the losers on this thread trying to tear him down just expose how pitiful and small they really are.

Its about time someone recognized the Rosa Twins. Being a twin myself, and half of a Division 1 NCAA Twin distance duo from the late 70's, I've been following these guys since their freshman year in HS. And they live in the same state and county as I do.

Letsrun (they do a great job) was a bit late to the party in recognizing these guys. Nary a word was said when Jim ran 5th in NCAA X-C.

First of all, I think you need to calm down and quit it with the insults.

Second of all, it is quite simple but for some reason you are not getting it. So I will attempt to explain it again.

Some people are better in slower races because they have faster 400m speed.

If you are racing someone that has better speed than you, and you are running at a pace that is relatively slow, and this person is with you at the end of the race, they will outkick you.

If you want to beat this person, you need to soften them up with a faster pace. This will reduce their kick.

I hope I've explained it simply enough now.

Except that's not what you said. You learned from others pointing out how batshitdumb you are why you were wrong.

Leading takes more work. If two runners have equal aerobic capacity and equal finishing speed, the runner leading the whole race is at a disadvantage. If a runner has superior aerobic capacity, yet inferior finishing speed - he may decide to sacrifice some of his aerobic advantage by doing extra work leading the race at a fast pace - hoping that this extra work is more than offset by a reduction in his opponents finishing speed advantage.

he beat a guy who ran 28:30 with a 53.2 last 400, who he beat at 1500

he won by .36 it was a miracle that Ches moved too early, thinking his signature blow by last 200 would work
