listen fellas,4:30 and 2:03 is damn good for someone this age, you wouldn't bash Kobe Bryant for playing up when he was a seventh grader so get off this dude's back. Nobody hits their prime as a 13 year old, lets be real 4:30 is one thing but having the speed as a 7th grader to go 2:03 is another. That doesn't come from "training since he was 4." He has some real talent, something that most people that visit this site don't understand because they were genetic average Joes who get off to breaking 18 in a 5k. So say he only pans out to be a 1:47 guy, well he's still better than 99.99% of competitive runners his age, same as he is now so I say he's going to to be alright. Hell, when he hits puberty he'll drop an automatic 3-5 seconds in the 800, 7th grade is raw give this kid some credit.
?????
I fail to see any bashing. What are you talking about.
Yes I have seen him run he is amazing he goes to my school and I'm afraid to admit this but he is really cute and I have a crush on him😊☺️

Geez get a room
Now a 6th grader has run 4:46. These kids are fast! http://mo.milesplit.com/meets/166453/results/310200
Dayummmnnn! Sounds like the real deal!
Well all of Letsrun knows this now, Brynn. But your secret is safe with us, after all no one here ever trolls or gossips under 20 different screen names.
That kid, though, is a well known player compared to this SC kid.
16:13 XC for the now 8th grader...
Miller also ran fast here:

Many times it doesn't matter what you do in 6th grade because in 7th grade several of the 8th graders in your own school can beat you because you grew early and they are catching up.

now 15:54 at lower state. 16:22 at state. Dolan's a great guy. Loves to run. Great work ethic. and no he has not been training since he was 4...so don't assume things that you don't even know
Ran 4:20/1:56 last spring, 15:49 sophomore record at state meet for 3rd.
Yippers Bronfman coached him for the chess team.

He went from 4:27/2:00 in 2014 to 4:20/1:56 in 2016. Progression is slowing, but he could still be on track to run 4:05 or so by the time he's a senior.
Years (mid 90's) I knew a kid who ran a 4:31 mile in the 8th grade. He didn't burn out, he just didn't care. Meaning there are various reasons people don't grow into their talent. That being said, the way people crap on prodigies on this site, it's as if being good at a young age is a bad thing (obviously extreme measure to get this way are most likely negative).
But overall, like in any sport, the kids who are the top at a young age have a much better chance to remain a superior athlete provided they continue to work hard and work smart. But the idea of bashing a kid because he ran fast at a young age is mind bottling.
he should focus on 800
I don't think anyone is bashing this fine young lad. It's just that many are not fawning all over him. Besides he probably has enough of that in his own support group/following.
The thing is, we've seen it all before; fast "prodigies" that harken many back to the days of Ryan, Lyquori, et al, that never really pan out.
The reality is, sure he has talent and has run fast times at a young age but that, as we all know, is only half the battle. Dedication, hard work, dealing with frustration/disappointment/injuries, is what lay ahead for this athlete. If he has the heart to persevere through it all to achieve then he has really accomplished something.
So all that being said, if slinging "fast times" as a middleschooler/ underclassmen gets a lukewarm response it is deservedly so. I also don't think that there is anyone here who isn't hopeful that he runs a 4 minute mile his senior year.
I will say this on every fast kid thread. Just because someone is fast young doesn't make them less likely to be fast when they grow up. Take the top 100 times for 8th grades in the mile. More of those people will run 4:20 or faster than any other group of 100 people. You think 101-200 pan out better than the 1-100 times? They don't.
This site tries to make a point saying that being slow is better when your younger. This kid will turn out better than 99% of kids who DIDN'T run 4:30 as a 7th grader.
All fast 7 th graders should stop training immediately so they can improve a lot from high school to college
