Started running on a trail in the middle of summer. Started hearing buzzing and feeling vibration around my head. Turned around and had a swarm of bees swooping at me, I started running as fast as I could I knew they could kill me if it was enough stings. They kept following me for about a 1/2 mile all out before I got to the road and they seized off. Had 5 bee stings, which isn't that bad, but never stepped foot back there again.

Once on a hot twenty miler I had a vision of a pitcher of lemonade leading me on like the pillar of cloud leading the Israelites in the desert. As a freshman in college, I tried to take the lead from the gun in the distance medley at the January winter festival meet at Dartmouth.
I was nobody, running for UMass, lined up against Providence, the NYAC, and Villanova among others.
Mick O'Shea from Providence rammed me with forearm and shoulder and knocked me literally on my ass. Oops.
It was not that bad, just embarrassing. Mick asked me after with a smile if I was OK. Welcome, kid!
I dropped out of a marathon and ended up running 27 miles.
I died of dysentery on a long run around Truckee, Ca.

Not joking. The thread asks the worse thing that happened on a run. This does not only mean physical injuries to yourself. A terrorist attack was the worst thing that happened on a run (Boston Marathon). Not sure where you saw a joke.

I didn't say it was funny. I said it was sickening how it reads like a joke, ad Josh Hamilton's addiction pointed out. It sounds like you're a jerk making fun of a terrible event. I was pointing that out.
Agree with you, tRg. I PR'd at Boston this year, and it became meaningless to me after the bombs went off. :-(

Well its not really terrible but today, I got chased for like a half mile by a chihuahua by the side of a busy road. The idiot owner was just yelling for it to come back and meanwhile I was sprinting as fast as I could with it at my heels. Finally I turned around and kicked it and then it almost got ran over by a few cars. Hate it when people let their dogs go wherever they want.
