What's the strangest thing you've found on a run?

While I was in college I found a book of those bright orange parking tickets and carbons for those already written. Took it back to our apt and my roommate found one with his name on it. He never paid the fine. I panicked and threw the book away back on campus.

In March of this year, I was visiting Washington, DC for work-related training. Instead of eating the provided lunch one day, I went for a run along the Rock Creek Park Trail. Under on of the bridges along the trail, I saw a photographer taking photos of a nude woman. Best. Run. Ever.

A few years ago, I ran by a CVS near my house and saw an empty box for a vibrator in the parking lot. I can only assume that someone needed the vibrator so bad, they had to stop at CVS to get some batteries.

I was running with my friend on some trails near our school, and he stopped to go to the bathroom. I waited for him on the trail while he went into the woods. He came back with a wooden box full of what we thought was black dust. We went back to where he found the box, noticed a cross with a name on it in the ground, and realized it was a box of someone's ashes...

I was running down a gravel road about 8 years ago, out in the country, and I found a big Ziploc baggie full of weed partially hidden in a tree, as well as what looked like the remains of a meth lab. Being younger and stupider I took it with me. I didn't smoke, but I had a few buddies who did so I called one and had him divide it up and make gifts to the others. kind of like the Robin Hood of drugs I suppose.

I once found $100 in the parking lot as I started my run. Least distance I've had to run to earn a payday from running.

Stopped in a beach adjascent public restroom for a mid-run pit stop; the kind of bathroom with two urinals and single toilet where privacy amounts to a 4 foot pony wall. I startled a guy who then tried to casually turn and pretend he wasn't doing (having done) what he was doing. Except he turned into the pony wall and his pants were around his ankles. Only got a peak of the head giver, but enough to know it was also a dude. I decided I could hold it till I got hom.

I have two friends that came across a homeless man who hung himself from an overpass on a run. Very sad and traumatizing. It was an out and back run, and he wasn't there on the way out.

Strangely enough, an old VCR / tape / eight track player.

One summer I passed a dead deer (a buck,) that was on the side of a road that cross a running path. The next weekend I went past the same spot and the deer was still there, but animals had been dining on the carcass. The ribs on one side were exposed and there scattered entrails. It was a 90 degree day and the smell was horrendous. Almost added some vomit to the mess. It was gone two days later.

When running down an alley when I was in high school, I saw in plain sight, two completely naked people going at it (doggy style) in the backyard. They probably were not visible from anywhere else other than that rarely-traveled alley.

I was running on a trail in the suburbs of Chicago and hurdled over a log. On the other side of the log, a baby deer was hiding. I ALMOST stepped on him. I had to adjust my footfall to avoid him. It looked just like bambi.

I once found $800 next to a stoplight on a busy road, 6 miles into a long run. The bills were brand new, as in just out of an ATM it seemed. No wallet, no ID, nothing else nearby... not even a business/residential area on this road.

In San Francisco running in the early a.m., I've run by film crews either doing movies or doing live news telecasts. I was once stopped by a cute newswoman as I was running by to get my opinion on the upcoming mayoral election.

It's funny how some things that are strange to some people are everyday occurrences for others. I live in the suburbs of central Jersey. It is a rare day that I DON'T run pass a road kill deer in some stage of decay.

For my strange find... On a wooded trail near my home, about a mile from the closest road, I pass the rusted shell of an car. The woods are pretty dense and the trail is single track so I don't know how it originally made it to the spot.
