I've been having this problem for years. One tip; don't settle for a hobby jogger if that is not what you are looking for. Don't listen to other people on who they "think" you should be dating. You won't be happy. I say that from experience.I've dated and am currently dating a female who ran a 5:40 mile and yes it is so much fun training together. We even do are hard workouts together by modifying them (she may run a slightly shorter rep than me and take a slightly longer recovery period but we start the next repetition and the same time). It's extremely difficult to find a female that fits this mold though. I knew a 19 5k woman who was recently divorced from an Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier and she had a hard time trying to find a partner with common interests; so its just not males that have this problem. My advice is not to give up. It may take a while to find someone but it will be worth it in the long run. Pun intended. :)

The situation is pretty similar where I live. In my area there are about 5 women who could break 19 (excluding the university teams) and about 50 men who can break 16, including me. All 5 of the women are in relationships or engaged and the slower women do not take their training seriously (not really anyone around between 19-22, maybe a handful, but mostly just real slow people who run maybe 20 miles a week with walk breaks). Unfortunately since I'm a year past grad school knowing the university women does me no good (too old for them or they'd be dating someone from their university, not someone who lives here for work) and most of them quit running or leave the area after college.
