Isn't the record 3:50? I don't see what's so impossible about running 3:56 after starting way too fast. She clearly suffered for it. If she had gone out slower, then she surely would have run closer to 3:50 (a time that has been run). Also, sprinting at the beginning of a race is a lot less taxing than sprinting at the end of a race.

Ah, maybe I wasn't clear. The 42s start was IN the 3:50 race. In other words, ran 3:50 off of 42s first 300m.
In the male equivalent, its El G running 3:26, off of first 300 in 37-38.
For equivalent performances I just used 1200m times that would result in a WR, and then just assumed for 300m portion the mens pace was 800 WR pace - 1s per lap, so 49.5 400m pace for first 300m.
I would think if Hicham or Lagat or whomever could start the race in 37.5 and run 3:26, it would indicate they are capable of much faster.

Yea, that get's nebulous. I just used both of those since they are the current world records. Same for the 300m paces, which I used as 800m WR pace - 1s per lap
Probably a better way to do it, but this gives some baseline. I guess it doesn't rule out the performance being legit, but it's impressive enough to make me wonder.

Check this video to see the running style of the Chinese, making the other top runners of the time look like hacks.
That is all talent and training, nothing to do with doping, and this can easily be seen by watching the video.
Wang Junxia does have the best form of any female Asian runner I've seen.
She may have lapped Dibaba, but then Dibaba would have come back for the win. Especially if it was a...MARATHON ON THE TRACK

When I created this thread I already knew which turn it would be taking.
My point is, there are many speculations about what's wrong with these records, short track, faked clock, moved starting line, drugs or even males competing as females. Yet we don't have any proof for it. Therefore it is rather arrogant of the British (BBC) to pronounce Dibaba the greatest female distance runner when she is over a minute slower than Wang.
Dibaba was as much slower than Wang as Farah was slower than Bekeles WR. Is Farah the greatest distance runner of all times? Would he have had a chance against Bekele in his prime? NO WAY.
it's pretty obvious Wang would have lapped Dibaba and then cracked her skull open and feasted on the goo that's found inside...

Sonia O'Sullivan has had an exceptional career and is definitely a world class athlete. Still holds a WR I think. Probably denied medals by doping athletes, similar to Kathy Cook (BBC had a piece on her today), who still holds loads of UK Women's sprint records. Her 400m time would have won Gold at London 2012. She wasn't even a full time athlete, and was running against doped to the gills by the federation East Germans. Definitely denied many Gold medals and a full time athletics career.
Why didn't Wang move to Marathon after she was done with the track?
Anyone with a logical mind can see the Chinese did in 93 and 97 games at home massive cycles, maybe EPO, maybe 'turtle soup', a natural form of the same effect. No testing at home I imagine (probably like Spain it was not illegal there).It seems they toned it down a bit for the OGs but coming off such big cycles still enough to win Gold. If they could have a team there to measure the track, why not a team there to administer a doping test to say the top 3? Although for that race you would need to try the whole field, haha.
