Agree about The Pine Club in Dayton.

Agree about Cameron Mitchell restaurants EXCEPT for Molly Woo's...he doesn't have Asian cuisine down.

I don't know the restaurants in the Cincinnati area.

I have eaten at that establishment and can confirm that it is, definitely, NOT the most expensive resaurant in Ohio. Darn good value for money, though, and not to be overlooked.

Ohio has two of the best amusement parks in the world (Cedar Point and Kings Island). Ohio State provides great athletic entertainment. Two major league baseball teams, one NHL team, two NFL teams, big pro tennis and pro golf tournaments are held here every year (and even pro bowling if you're into that), people flock to Put-In-Bay and Kelley's Island up by Lake Erie, and then for more nature there is the Cuyahoga National Forest and the Hocking Hills. The Columbus Zoo is one of the best zoos (if not the best) in the country. Cincinnati has museums and a nice aquarium that get visitors from out of state. Ohio has the Football Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and then a ton of other things like an Air Force museum and on and on and on. Lots of people come to Ohio for pleasure.

You mean like the Creation Museum, where they teach kids (who will then go on to be able to vote) that dinosaurs and humans co-existed? (I know it is technically in KY, but it is clearly part of the Cinci metro-area and, therefore, very closely associated with OH.)

I think it's cute that someone living in a flyover state would think that he has the ability to argue that his state doesn't fit the definition of being in a flyover state. That's ridiculous. It doesn't matter how much business, culture, money, sophistication, erudition, learning, and population there is in the American midwest. The elite on either coast will forever regard us as residents of the flyover states. And yes, that includes even Chicago and most certainly all of Ohio. And yes, I said "us." Again, Ohio is the 7th most populous state in the country with a TON of people living here, flying here for business and pleasure. Ohio is not the same as Montana or Wyoming.

Just because they view Ohio and CHICAGO that way doesn't mean that's the right view. I'm willing to bet (and I know this from experience having lived in California) that those same people think Ohio is pretty much the same as Iowa, and that couldn't be further from the truth. Also, many in California consider Ohio to be "East Coast". I can't tell you the number of times I had to tell people that Ohio was actually decently far from the East Coast.

Chicago is the third largest city in the US. Ohio is the 7th most populous state. Only someone who is completely vapid and believes that ONLY California and New York matter would call Ohio or the Chicago area as "flyover".

Nebraska is flyover (though the Runzas are great). Montana is flyover. South Dakota is flyover.

In terms of airports, flyover country is a great place to put them. In case you're unaware, the airlines often use a hub and spoke system--and what better place to put hubs than in a centrally located area with vast swaths of empty space?

You realize that this isn't just a term that I made up, right? It is very commonly accepted. Just because it offends you because it makes you realize that you do not live in a particularly sophisticated or significant area doesn't negate the existence of a commonly used term.

You must be a troll or an ignorant person to think that any place outside of the LA/San Diego or Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, DC is non significant and unsophisticated.

What does the word many mean?

Having grown up in Ohio and living in Manhattan the last three years here are some thoughts.

-I think the Refectory is on par with La Grenouille and Jean Georges, while slightly behind Le Bernadine or Per Se. And yes, I have been to all of them.

-I haven’t been to the Pine Club in Dayton but of the steakhouses in Ohio I’ve been to (The Top, all of the Cameron Mitchell ones), none of them stack up to Peter Luger.

My two favorite places are probably Worthington Inn or Granville Inn. The food is good but not out of the world at both places, but the atmosphere really is amazing, particularly the Granville Inn.

I never said it's the right view. I believe that it's the view espoused by the people who coined the term and who use the term. You can ask for exceptions left and right, but the majority on either coast don't seen the middle of the country as appealing, interesting, worthy of a visit, etc...

When in town for the Bridgestone Invitational Golf Tournament, Tiger Woods has been seen eating at the Diamond Grill.
