Also to point out Ryan Hall being coached by Canova and being hurt. I think Ryan Hall has a race coming up in Costa Rica. When is Desi racing next? Yeah try again. She's a marathoner. She's not looking to win the Local Yocal 5K. Do you know how often marathoners race a year when they are HEALTHY?

No I am not an orthopedic surgeon. But I have had a stress fracture. I also a couple of people who had hip pain and got tested for femoral fractures. Why? Because they went to a competent sports doc. I am well aware of this article. It does not change the fact that they did not go to a competent professional to get a proper diagnosis. But putting that aside for a moment. Why if she took 12 weeks off( starting in say middle of August through middle of November) she couldn't be ready for a marathon 5 months after that? And just now is doing a workout for a 2:40 marathoner. Better yet why did she get the stress fracture in the first place? Hmm maybe it was over training? Bringing this full circle to my original premise same old workouts. I have studied the logs of several of those guys including Desi's and Sell's. The only thing they do different from year to year is more mileage. That will work until you hit your ceiling and end up hurt, washed up, or burned out. Thus the need for a different stimuli or change of direction. Why do you think many elites switch coaches at some point in their career? I am not saying that the Hanson brothers are terrible coaches or that she hasn't achieved considerable results. But at this point in her career she needs someone that can take her to the next level. That is not the Hanson Brothers. I also continue to think by your defensive statements that your judgement is clouded by adoration of the program.

Speaking of ignorance. Wow. Do realize that marathoners race more just the marathon each year? On average a world class marathoner races 10-12 races(not marathons unless you are Yuki)

So going from 10-12 race paychecks to zero is significant.

Because of few clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment are often delayed. Furthermore, if not treated correctly, these fractures are well known for complications and difficulties.And I have no attachment to the Hansons in the slightest. But I do feel a kindred spirit with dedicated and hardworking members of the runners' community, and I think you've taken a few cheap shots at people who don't deserve it.

By digging up a 7 year old article from England you think that better justifies your argument? Do you really think the best sports docs in the world would have missed this? When you are dealing with the best athletes you need the best resources in addition. This only better illustrates why Desi will need to go somewhere else to make improvements. Also you claim to have no affiliation with Hanson's? Anyone who uses the search function can see you have posted numerous times info like this workout. I am not taking cheap shots. This is a sad situation that cost one our best from truly competing at the Olympics and Boston. You need to become more enlightened and realize this reality.

Hall and Abdi both missed the Olympics and Boston as well. It looks like Asics and Nike also couldn't find a way to get there athletes the correct medical attention that they needed as well?

Please list the 10-12 races that Hall, Meb, Wilson Kipsang, Patrick Makau, Mary Keitany, Caroline Kilel or Kara Goucher ran for each of the last 2 years.

I'll make it easier. List the 10 or 12 races that ANY top 2 finisher, of any major Marathon, ran each of the last 2 years.

But it is nice of you to be worried about Desi's paycheck all of sudden. I'm sure she gets by.

Isn't Abdi like 50 now and Hall was coaching himself when he got hurt and is now back running well under Canova. Abdi is 36 and has made 4 Olympic teams. Desi is at the prime of her career. But sadly It may be that she never gets to level she was before.
