Yeah, a 3200 that went out in 4:31 and ended with four under 8:50 is definitely a glorified time trial.
All I can say for you is that you picked an appropriate name.
A couple people keep posting that in the 90s people ran the 2-mile, rather than the 3200m.
The switch to Metric happened well before the 90s. It was '79 -'81 for the most part.
what always impress me was Craig Virgin result list from High School. His Junior and Senior years! Something to be seen.....there should be some kind of special award for it!

IIRC, the 2007 NON 2 mile (yes, 2 mile) is still the deepest race through 5 (http://www.flotrack.org/article/10832-results-2007-nike-outdoor-nationals#.WO7TKmnyuUk), but Arcadia 2017 might have #6-30.
Before NON 2007, the 2003 Arcadia 3200 was the standard.
