No, that won't happen. Webb also ran 1:43.8x that season. Rupp won't be able to touch that outdoors, that's too high of a mark for him to ever touch. Two different types of talent, Just like it's highly doubtful that Webb would be able to run a 26:48 even if he trained for it. I could see low-27's yes, but not sub-26:50.

IMO you'd be foolish to think pro runners (especially Salazar's runners, given his obsession with Rupp's form and sprint speed) are just slogging 100 mile weeks with no attention to speedwork whatsoever in the late fall/winter. Salazar & Rupp are meticulous, they are constantly working on his speed and biomechanics. you get good at things you do repeatedly & year round, not on things you train every 5-6 months when peaking for indoor or outdoor champs. ideas like "base season" and "speedwork for peaking" are stupid...these guys are in shape & can run a fast race over a large range of distances 90% of the year.

Yeah. Your an idiot if you don't think Rupp can run a 45.6,140.1,3:26.2,3.43.1 or a 7:20.8. And Bekele could have easily run 1:38.2, 3:22.2, 3:38.8 or 7:12.3. He just though it would not be fair to own all the WRs.Or maybe you don't have a clue on how these calculators work.

I've been wondering if Rupp would do some mile racing again indoors like he did last year.
It's a great strategy for a 5000/10000 guy. Shore up the speed early in the year, so you can kick like a mo fo in the closing stage of the 5 and 10 in the summer when it counts.
As for what he can run indoors right now, I tend to think 3:51-2. It's be a real feat to break 3:50.
you are all fools, no human is physically capable of running one mile below four minutes, and even if such a feat happened the runner surly would perish on the cinders

As my previous posts indicate, I was not surprised by Rupp's run, nor will I be surprised if he improves on it. If Salazar and Coghlan were being truthful, Rupp has similar 400 ability to Coghlan and greater endurance. If Coghlan can run a 3:49, Rupp should be capable of at least that.
The only advantage Coghlan had over Rupp was an exceptional innate gift for running on small, banked tracks--where Coghlan ran his fastest times indoors, Rupp's 3:50 might well convert to a 3:49--or faster--outdoors.
