The problem with Schumacher is that these guys don't race. It is a myth that you can only run 2 or 3 races a year. When you don't race, you lose confidence. Bairu has been wrecked by Schumacher. 3 of the best running years of his life have gone by with little to show for it. He needs to get a new coach.

Bairu needs to get a new coach as soon as possible. Wasting his career and superb talent. Don't understand his decision to stick with the his coach at all at this point.

Does anybody else feel that 2:14 for Nelson is maybe what he is just a 2:14 marathoner?
If it were not for his connection with Wisco he would never have been part of that group or gotten such backing from Nike.
If a runner of his same stats coming out of college from a different school at that same time he would not even be mentioned or on Nike's payroll I bet.
He races what 1 maybe 2 times a year? Seems he is paid and supported by Nike to be a pacer in workouts for the main guys in the group - th wguys who have a chance at making national teams (I know he got lucky once making a team, but doubt that will ever happen again).
I also agree with the poster who said Jerry's kids don't race enough. Nike pours tons of money into that group and can't believe the higher ups in the company don't put more pressure on teh group to get the swoosh out there in races more to get some payback
Does anyone know of Schumacer is going to be coaching athletes from other sponsors? I saw a tweet from Shalane not too long ago that Amy Hastings was training with her and Emily Infeld
That was good timing - Coach Hadley just put out a post on his blog about marathon potential in individuals and why some 27 minute 10k guys run 2:07 and others 2:14.
Not revolutionary thinking but interesting to hear a coach talk about it.

If you do not feel this is legit, I will gladly use whatever equivelancy standards that you see as legit. This way we can discuss how a coach is doing rather than having the same level of expectations for a 27:30 guy and a 29:00 guy.
