I disagree. Not everyone needs to be a barbie doll. I think her eyebrows give her a lot more expression. They're cute on her.

This was not a "tactical" mistake on Cain's part: when the race was on the line Baxter made the decisive move and no one was remotely close to hanging on to her, including Cain. Indeed it appeared Knight hung on to Cain initially better the Cain hung on to Baxter's move.
Baxter's mental focus and race execution was incredible.
I was also amazed how smooth she looked from the hips down. She has a bit of an over-pronounced shoulder lean, but really she looked mechanically superior to Cain in the mud.
Baxter might ultimately turn into a 10K/marathon type runner. But what I do know is that athletes with her type of mental strength are worth their weight in gold to a coach/program and are inspiring to watch as a fan.

Last year Baxter was first, Cain was sixth. Baxter beat Cain by 18 seconds. I don't think Mary is unhappy with this result. By the way, is it really necessary to run the race in these god awful conditions?
Only on lets run would people so passionately and emotionally fight over a made up rivalry. I mean jeez, they've raced against each other once! ONCE!!
I seriously doubt either Sarah or Mary talk this much trash about each other. No class on these boards.

sort of agree with both quotes, but I came away thinking Mary is little full of herself. I don't dislike her....but she may want to ease up on thinking she can run a lot faster....from here on, getting faster will be a very big challenge. Running Sub 411 in HS won't be easy....and beating Sara won't be easly either. I wish them both well.

I've seen her run before in person and she flat out knows how to run. Baxter is a fantastic runner as well but Cain absolutely has a shot at dipping under 9:40. Jacob Burcham won the NBON mile and came in 84th. Obviously he didn't have a good day, but it is always evident that XC success does not have anything to do with track success.

Perhaps my age (in my 70's) has fogged my thinking but it seems like almost every year there are young runners that garner our attention. Recent names that come to mind are Lukas, Allie, Jordan, etc. Now Mary and Sarah are hot names on this message board. Yes, everyone that follows running has their personal opinions but I,personally, would just like the pundits to united in total positive hope that the present honor roll has no health issues, that they make wise choices for the future and that in the end, make both themselves and their followers proud. In a perfect world, I would like to see them end up somewhere together, pushing each other to be the best they can. I do not know if Alberto or any other coach is the solution but I see what happened to Galen and Mo, Stephan Sambu and Lawi Lalang, the Oklahoma team when they had good training situations. Please, may the powers that make things happen, help Mary and Sarah succeed.
To the original poster. I did not see any personal messages towards Sarah. Both girls are outstanding runners. Cain handled herself well in the interview.

I think both Cain and Webb are stellar xc runners. Take a step back and notice that they were both the second best xc runners in the nation. Second best in the whole country is still stellar isn't it? Furthermore, wasn't Webb top 10 in NCAA xc as a freshman? Sounds stellar to me.
