I can't see them putting on the marathon - I bet the subways are out for a week - how can they get people to the start without subways?

Plus, the first responders are working crazy shifts right now. Hard to think they'll be available for all the crowd control, etc, that the marathon needs.
At least one highly placed NYC Govt official is pushing to showcase the 'NYC Spirit' by making the NYCMarathon the poster child for NYC's recovery from the disaster. I think it's a hard sell.

I think this will be the biggest factor. A close second will be public transportation. The resources will be stretched very thin by the end of the week and trying to run the marathon on top of that is just asking for disaster. I won't be surprised with either decision.

Hotels in NYC are dirt cheap right now, makes me think that everyone doing the marathon are cancelling their reservations.

Queen Mary , just isn't listening , transit is a big issue as mayor just gave a press conference about , hotels without power cannot open. Boroughs are a mess. Airports still closed today.

Absolutely, if rebooking now still enables you to cancel later (should the marathon get cancelled).
My FEMA neighbor could not make it out east today, due to flights cancelled (tried to fly into Philly or Pittsburgh and drive the rest of the way). He's going to try to fly out tomorrow. No other info from him on what he's heard. I believe he is a FEMA spokesperson.

Typical knee jerk reaction of someone ready to rail on the insurance company. Does the IRS pay your taxes on Jan 1? Most insurance claims being held up are because of requirements not met by the policyholder.

Honestly..I hope the race goes on...and it sounds like the course itself is ok...but the logistics of getting to the race, getting around the city, getting your bib, getting to the start, etc...that is going to be a huge headache...
I think the biggest problem is going to be the downed trees. Trees on the course, trees on cars, trees in the subways, even trees on sidewalks. Some trees are partially down or thinking about falling, too. It's bad.
The race will go on. Can't make it here? F U! Isn't that what New York is all about!?
