Dibaba has a 14:11 to her credit, that is not too far off 29:30. She or someone else could hit that, but when was the last time there was a fast rabbited women's 10k? Dying event.
Women's 1500 at 3:50 is probably the most unbreakable distance record on the track. Surprised there has been little mention of 2:15; I suppose if women's marathoning keeps improving maybe we'll see it in years to come.
I'm curious how long it will take before the mile record goes down. Alan Webb has the fastest time in the last few years he's almost 4 seconds away from it. The next best in the last 5 years is almost 5 seconds away.

suprised only one person has mentioned Jackees hep. The britt is very, very good and didnt come close. The swede girl, that broke jr record (i think) several yrs back could have come close,but lost health or interest. The russian(?) that broke indoor record is getting to old.

Good point especially since the hep is probably going to be replaced with the decathlon. Not saying this is going to happen within the next 10 years but I believe 20 years is realistic. Remember pole vault wasn't even a discipline for ladies until a few years ago...

Yes. A sharp observation. EPO helps to run about 4 sec. faster in the 1500 m.

Yet he was not alone. Carl Lewis jumped only 4cm less (wind aided) and only 8cm less (legally). Not sure why no one has come close to this to this day.

5. 10,000m - 29:31. The chinese were so drugged up again that it was not even funny. Also this was set in China. There is no way anyone runs anywhere close to this time in our lifetime. Another record out of reach.
Those seem the ones that are the most out there. All 5 need to be stricken from the record books. Even athletes don't pay attention to these 5 WR's as they are unattainable.
Most 10ks are tactical, but there a couple of womens whose 5k PR suggest they are capable of breaking the record.
The 220 yard low hurdle record will never be broken.
The sad thing is, FloJo never got to break 10, doped or not a woman breaking 10 would have been insane.
I think people are wrong about the women's 200. Not that FloJo wasn't doped (I believe she was) but that people are close to it today. Three people have run 21.6 recently which is only 0.3 off the WR.
The women's 400m will never be broken. The fastest women in the world today are running high 49's. That is almost 2.5 seconds off the WR. Even the 10th fastest runner of all time is 1.45 off the WR. Compare that to the men, where the 10th fastest runner of all time is only 0.79 off the WR. In the men's 400, they have gotten within 0.3 of the WR within the last 10 years. The closest anyone has been to the 400m women's record in the last 10 years is 1.1 sec.
The record is unbreakable and should be striken from the books given the evidence.

Well, since Kratochivilova beat my best time, I definitely insist she was roiding (though I guess I need to use that excuse also against Koch, Mutola, and any other female that has broken 1:56). When I was in H.S. (in the 80s), we had a track magazine that we were looking at after practice. One of the cheerleaders came by, looked at the magazine cover, and not knowing who the runner on the cover was said "he's hot". Well, it was Kratochivolova.

Yes that would have been INSANE! And that is the stupidest post I've seen in awhile. You must be a distance runner, to realize how far off of 10 flat that 10.49 is!

This would be equivalent to lowering the men's 10k world record to 25 flat.
Carl Lewis' indoor long jump 28'10". Has not been approached in 25yrs.
Nobody is touching Zelezny's 98 meter javelin throw. This years Olympic champ was almost 50 (FIFTY) feet short.
