Also, how was the 1500m stacked with a superior field? Was El G there? NO.
The 10,000m had the current world record holder in the event racing... That makes the 10k more stacked...

Both Silver medals are made out of the exact same material... they are worth the EXACT same.
no, "10000" takes up more silver material than "1500"
OR
less if the words are carved in the medal

I have been, according to this crowd, one of the harshest critics of Galen Rupp, and I remain adamant that his lifetime personal bests will not be faster than 12:55 and 26:48, but when the man rises to the occasion when it matters most, well, you have got to hand it to him. Sure, the field was not the strongest, but with the medals on the line, the man showed some character, and that is what brings respect.
So it was a weak field even though it contained the world record holder who was "undefeated" in the 10000m for his entire life?
You even said Bekele was more of a competitor than Gebreselassie.
As for Rupp never going beyond 26:48, I'm sure Rupp would have proven you wrong if the great Bekele wanted to test him.
All backsides look like this.
Leo MF Manzano! That was awesome!
But the world record holder was sub par.
Manzano faced a juicer and a horribly dressed "Norwegian".
Amazing. Leo is an animal. We could do nothing from here on out and this olympics was a complete success
so much of the 1500 final is about positioning and how guys felt on that day. they are so so close in ability. you run that race 10 times, leo might get the gold once, the bronze once, but he's gonna finish out of the running a few times, too.
the 10k is much more cut and dry. certainly a better field than the 1500 but rupp is more clearly the class of it, along with farah, than leo is in the 1500. you run the 10k final 10times, galen medals 9-10 times.
leo's is more shocking.
WOW WHAT AN AWESOME RACE. I didn't expect Manzano to do anything!!
But the WR holder took 4th... I bet El G wouldn't have even made the finals...
I haven't posted on Letsrun in years. Leo's race made me want to post. I was screaming at the tv waking-up my family tonight. Yeah, his silver meant more.

No offense taken, as one who is assured of his genius remains a haven of tranquility amid the insults from pedestrian minds.
Put down the thesaurus.
Manzano didn't have to outkick the world record holder and his brother to get silver.
Just sayin'.
I'm incline to agree, though in some ways Galen sticks out to me more because he was the one hyped up as a major medal contender and delivered in a big way. Manzano's is pretty awesome to though because he ran a fantastic race and came (sorta) from nowhere to grab that silver.
If however, Galen does grab another medal in the significantly stronger 5000m field...I think without a doubt it's him I will be remembering the most as that would be truly something special.

unforgettable moment so far in these Olympic Games.
Of course, there is a chance that Leo will eventually be awarded the gold medal, and that chance doesn't appear to exist for Galen, as if Mo Farah is busted, I would assume that Galen would be also.
That is the the post of the year and I'm not meaning to imply anything about them. But that's the state of our sport isn't it?
And it should be. They need more testing.
I was thinking this algerian was dirty but then I thought about it. Why couldn't a guy who had run 3:32 get down to 3:30 by switching coaches and really dedicating himself and not seeing his family for 7 months.
Tbat's probably equally as feasible as an American who can't break 4:00 in the mile until like 2009 closing in 52 in a 5k.
Don;t you think that this is good for the sport? To see somebody that kids can look up to and relate to winning,, rather than it just being another unknown kenyan dominating..

What do you mean by "worth more"? Galen Rupp's medal is "worth more" because he is white, sponsored by a racist company in a racist country.
Nike is a racist company?
I got news for you child, very early on Nike proactively hired minorities in top positions.
I saw it with my own eyes, so, full of it.
this thread has the most idiotic title I've ever seen on these forums.
The 10,000m is worth far more than the 1500m for America. Over the last twenty years America has competed at the top of the world in the 1500m on several occassions (Webb, Lagat, Centrowitz, Wheating).
How many Americans have been in the top 5 in the world at any point for the 10 km over that span.... only Rupp.
An American 2nd in the 10k is far more rare and far more special.

The 1500 is a bigger event than the 10,000 so, yes a Silver in the 1500 is worth more than a Silver in the 10,000.
The 100 is #1 followed by the 1500.
On the track, the steeple is the least valuable.
The 400 and 10,000 are about equal for #3 and 4.
Then the high hurdles
The 200, 800 and 5000 are lumped together before the 400 hurdles.
The 800 is far harder than the 1500m at this time. Just look at the winners. Asbel, Silas and the other kenyan. Three big favs like that would NEVER just fade into 1.52 in 800m.
That silver is not worth as much as Rupp, he got it EASY. Its like Rudisha, Kaki, Lewandowski and Amos would just fade to 1.50 the 800m and then symmonds would get silver, that would not be equal to rupps silver either.
