If you want to watch the BBC iPlayer from the US then download Expat Shield. BBC are showing ALL events live online.

This happened in Bejing too. Basically locked myself in my room all day, didnt talk to anyone, no tv, no internet because there will be a spoiler. Someone will ruin it for you. Thankfully I got to watch bolt run his finals without incident and we all know what happened. The live apps are all really awesome though, very impressed by them thus far. Ill certainly be up at whatever hour needed to see rounds, nlive stuff, etc.
All you guys bitching and whining about NBC's tape-delayed coverage need to get off your asses and do 2 things:
1)Do some research and find a free or cheap proxy server in Great Britain. I took me about 30 minutes to find a free one.
Once I click the "connect" button, the whole world thinks my ISP is in Britain. I'm not going to tell you specifically which one I found, because I don't want to make it easy for the BBC to try to block its address.
2)Download BBC's iPlayer and watch any event you want live. I watched all of the swimming finals yesterday afternoon because I didn't want to wait until 9pm to watch them.
does this surprise anyone? this has been their mo from day one!
to any canadian posters on the board...
is CBC showing events live?
is CBC showing all the heats as well?
NBC is showing the 100m final live online.
Very few people are gonna be out of work at 3:50 to watch the 100m final on TV, so they can stream it on their desktop or laptops or smartphones at work.
The fact that NBC is doing this is brilliant! Then we can all celebrate when we get to see the events a second time later in the night when we are hanging out with our friends at the bar!

Not to mention scoring some coin/drinks from unsuspecting patrons who think the PM session is live.

Just a constant stream of abuse for NBC
You Americans are getting shafted big time.

The part that you are leaving out is that you have to subscribe to cable in order for you to use NBC's online streaming. For those of us (the smart ones) who have ditched cable and now have an OTA digital antenna for the networks and use netflix and/or hulu plus for other shows, we have to be creative and use a VPN and BBC iPlayer. For our efforts, we get to no only watch any event live, but we also get to listen to British announcers! Double Bonus.
Don't get screwed by cable anymore!
Sounds like you outsmarted yourself there, smart guy. Ha ha!
So you moaning loosers all watched the opening ceremony but can't watch the 100m?!
How exactly do you download all of the necessary things to watch the olympics live if you don't have cable?
if by everything you mean - every minute of beach volley ball with americans in the matches - then yes.
i'm still waiting to see hockey
only if the heats have american in them. in beijing, most people were surprised when jamaicans cleaned up in the short sprints - it was a case of where did those people come from? no one knew other competitors existed that were going to hand americans their asses until the final.
i have subscribed to one of the cable things and i still cannot gain access and i live in nyc

The opening ceremonies were delayed, loser. The 100m will be, too, for prime time viewing, but available live online.
What's a "looser"?
Wao this has only been going on since, what, 2000?
I remember being 17 and having to watch the 100m and 200m on CBC in the middle of the night during the Sydney Olympics.
What's so hard about asking a good friend who has a cable/satellite tv subscription for their login information? If watching the events live is so important then there are ways to do it for those willing enough to find them.

Why don't they show it live...
I'm sure you all remember that they didn't show the '84 LA OG 100 live either. So what's the deal???
