Where is Ventolin^3 when you need him? He provided a very convincing argument that Marion never cheated. The only reason she admitted it was because doing so was part of a plea bargain for the unrelated crime she was convicted of.

1998 was probably her last clean year after that it was EPO/designer steriods, which obviously really didn't help.

She really did throw her career away. The drugs she took did nothing for her. Sad but I guess thats just how they do, not thinking and stuff.

I never had any doubt she was guilty, and have no doubt today she was dirty in HS. Anyone who thinks its too much to cheat in HS when things like college scholarships come from it are clueless as to what goes on.

I wish she'd said all this at her sentencing hearing. She'd still be in the clink.

You are right, she is on the wrong speaking circuit. She needs to be on the Born Again Christian speaking circuit. This way she can join a list of cheats thiefs, druggies liars, and just plain bad people who make the claim to be hollier than thou speeches!. They are why I hate religion because it is just a sham as much Marion Jones' is.

Steroids don't give you .37 of a second over Thanou, who was doped to the gills. Almost everyone in the 2000 Olympic 100m finals, men and women were loaded.

The Duke LaCrosse boys were definitely innocent, although a crooked lawyer (the prosecutor who has since been disbarred) prosecuted them solely for political reasons. she admitted doping in '99/'00/'01

problem was her 100/200 times showed virtually no change from '97 onwards ( maybe at best 0.05s for 100, but if you do the basic times & consider race RT, level of competition, etc, possibly 0 improvement )

times of 10.55 - 10.60 / 21.50 - 21.60 basic wouda been expected with doping seeing as she came out at ~ 10.7/21.7 in '97 & especially if she'd been doping for few years using that as a baseline

the situation was that the FBI investigating her doping possibilities had nothing on her & she maintained her innocence - the Ix was going nowhere with her

then, a separate charge of cheque-fraud by Tim & few others had her implicated - it was a locktight charge as she had deposited a $25k cheque which was part of the fraud, in her account

the FBI told her it was a 5 - 10y certain prison sentence & FBI woud fight against early parole

she was offered a deal as FBI was desperate to land a 30' great white on the doping Ix

she was told that if she admitted doping the doping & cheque fraud woud be reduced down

she got a 6 month prison sentence instead of 5 - 10y

The whole Marion Jones thing went past the point of "flogging a dead horse" quite a while ago. Her athletic career is obviously over, and I think we've all rendered whatever judgment we are going to lay on her. Can we give it a rest, yet? Or do people really get something out of the repeated tar and feathering? Criticizing Marion Jones has to be the most blatant case of shooting fish in a barrel that I can think of.

The thing is, she is perpetuating this by remaining in the public eye and not showing an ounce of remorse or guilt. If she just admitted it for real instead of this half assed attempt to blame men in her life, the story would have gone away a long time ago.

Never would have won it--not even a question of that.

I understand that, but eventually it becomes ridiculous to keep piling on like that. We also need to consider the distinct possibility that she's mentally ill. That would explain a lot, in fact. If that happens to be the case, it's particularly unbecoming to keep thrashing her repeatedly in public for the rest of her life. We all know she screwed up and will have to live with that disgrace for the rest of her life. Whether she chooses to take responsibility publicly or not.

As long as SHE keeps bringing it up in the media, some would say it's our obligation to counter with the truth. Otherwise her revision becomes the "approved" history.

Anything we're "piling on," she asked for. And remember that there are people following the media today - probably most high school and college athletes, in fact - who are too young to remember the original doping conviction.

Go back and look over all of the evidence, all of the recorded information that is there for you to see, including interviews, testimony, quotes from many people who have known her. And the ONE consistency is that this is not some lost, mentally ill person. This is an ego driven, calculating person who became even more calculating and manipulative the more famous and successful she got. To the point where she probably honestly believes she's fooling everyone with her charade that she still continues to this day. Typical clinical narcissist. They are always right, and never wrong. Even when caught, it isn't because of their wrongdoing they got caught, but it's because of others. She even still notes herself in the third person in interviews.

Come on, nobody is piling on her, she did this to herself, and perpetuates the lies everytime she tries to pawn off her ridiculous book, or fake being some do-gooder making inspirational speeches to kids now about how she made a "mistake" and learned from it. She hasn't learned anything. And when she finally disappears and goes back to being a non-track affiliated person not seeking media attention, then we will move on from her BS.
