I was at the two meets that Roger Kingdom tried to qualify at and he was nothing more than a puffed up, pompous ass. The whole meet was held up while he did interviews and posed for pictures on the track. It was kind of sad that he did nothing to try and promote the sport or the meet. I have a great respect for his accomplishments, but it's ridiculous that he thinks that he's above paying entry. I think it's really sad how self absorbed he is. When the Pitt job became available a few years ago, he was strutting around making comments about he'd take the job as soon as the AD called...not that it was ever offered. And now he's at California U of PA as some sort of assistant, though last time I checked he didn't have any prior coaching experience...guess you need re-affirmation of your god-likeness by throwing your gold medals around at recruits...too bad he couldn't parlay that into something grander than DII... I'm sure soon enough we'll be reading about how his trials comeback was destroyed because of the unwillingness of USATF to give him a free pass to the Trials. And BFD, he was going to go out in the qualifying rounds anyways; It's no testiment to the human spirit that he wants to come back, why go through all that just to embarass yourself just to get a human intrest story on ABC, which is just going to kill our minimal track coverage even more.
