wasn't Brent McFarlane involved with the sprinters
Yes, he was. He was my coach for a while.
He was a great guy, but when I was around he was more focused on the hurdles than on the sprints, by far. I heard from the hurdlers that he was amazing at hurdles coaching.
As far as the sprints went, he seemed more interested in the results than in the cultivation of athletes. We had good results in those days, and that helped his career--but we had those results even before he arrived.
If I had to find a coach for the sprints, I would have to say that it wouldn't be him.
How about Justyn Warner, coming on strong at the Olympics! Good show.
And good show by the relay, too bad about Connaughton stepping on the line. I was surprised by the third place showing, ahead of T&T--but to be fair, T&T had the outside lane, which must have sucked going into the final turn.
But holy crap, 3rd place, ahead of everybody except Jam & USA, both under WR time. Not as fast as the 1996 team, but very nice indeed.
