The church. Maybe they need to keep a steady supply of little boys in the pipeline. Sound harsh? If the bishops and cardinals had gotten half as upset about the priests raping and plundering our little boys we might listen to what they are now saying. They now have no moral standing whatsoever.

I am not defending those actions, but you do realize that you are talking about MAYBE 100 men. The Catholic Church is like a quarter of the world's population.

I'm certain that there are not 1.75 billion Catholics in the world.

Good point. Catholics aren't like a quarter of the population like that idiot said. The are only a measly approximately 20% of the worlds population at 1.18 billion members. You showed him!
You are missing the big issues. 1)Where in the constitution is the federal government empowered to tell an insurance company or a business that they have to provide a service? 2) It is not free!! Nothing is free. We are all paying for it in our premiums whether we are using it or not. 3) Birth Control is readily available and cheap to anyone who wants it. Personal Responsibilty means you pay for it yourself. We have the freedom to choose in this country but that is not good enough for some people. These people want someone else to pay for all of their choices. Personal Responsibilty means paying your own bills. 4) I have a child but if they eliminated those credits, I would not mind. My wife and I waited until we were financially able to take care of our child. Ironically, we now make too much money to qualify for the credit. What a great tax code we have! 5) This healthcare law is the biggest intrusion of liberty in history. Once is totally implemented, the government will be able to regulate every aspect of your personal life. The conflict with the Catholic church is only the beginning. Don't complain when they come knocking on your door. You were warned but no enough people listened.

Economically it's in our best interest to have an expanding population. So in an instance where everyone has access to birth control those who actually choose to have children should be rewarded.
ecologically it's in our best interest to not have an expanding population.
This thread is hilarious because none of you are women. White dudes need to sit down and shut up when it comes to topics like this.
Really? There's never been a bigger intrusion in personal freedom in history? How far back does your version of history go, to the last presidential election?
NO ONE has ever been more PERSONALLY INVADED than when the government required them to have insurance.

Totally. We should just sit down and shut up. We deserve no say in something we are expected to pay for!

I mean, if birth control is available to everyone for no cost, wouldn't it follow that those who have children are making a conscious choice to do so and should plan ahead to make sure they can live with the consequences of that choice without government support?
It has always been assumed that those who have children are making a conscious decision to do so.
It's not like that without free birth control every child was unintended.
Yes there have many many unintended pregnancies. And with free birth control there will still be many unintended pregnancies because it will not be used properly.
Nothing really changes.
Nobody has a child thinking whether or not they will get any government support.
The brain is just not in that mode at the point of conception.
And when it is completely planned ahead, tax credits and exemptions just do not enter the conversation.
It is all animal's instinct to perpetuate the species.
The vast majority of people have children at some point so almost everyone gets these benefits at different times.
Having more children may beget more benefits but those with less children absolutely come out ahead financially.
The cost of raising an additional child is way more expensive than any benefits gained, so there is no financial incentive from the government to have more children.
Any law that would increase birth control usage does not fundamentally change the reason for supporting the raising of a child.
It would just control birth a little better and keep costs down for everyone.

There are more than 7 billion people in the world.

Fine you want to go that route?
Catholics only make up a measly 17% of the worlds population. As a clear minority, it would be wrong of you to infringe upon our rights, correct libs?

Laws are in place to protect everyone's rights, minority or otherwise. I don't know why that wouldn't be clear.

I'm not sure of your point. We are in agreement. The healthcare law requires you to buy insurance. This is the biggest intrusion of personal freedom in history. If they can make you buy insurance, they can make you buy a Chevy Volt or anything they choose. You must have misunderstood my post. I apologze if I was not clear.

It must be strange to be stuck in a mind like yours - where there is this convenient bogeyman behind every issue.
Hey, you libs! There, I am starting to feel better already.
Look it's 2012, not 1912. Anyone CHOOSING to have sex w/o using birth control is an idiot and deserves to have to deal with an unwanted child and all that it brings. If you chose to follow a religion that clings to medieval ideals, then that's on you, not the rest of us.
It's the same as choosing to not wear glasses or corrective lenses or take antibiotics. The invention of bc changed the game, and it's time for everyone to get their god d@mn head in the game and stop f#cking it up for the rest of us.

Is it not then a choice to work for a religion that clings to medieval ideals, and deal with the consequences of that choice?
After all, nobody is forcing anyone to go work for a religious organization.

Ummm...It is not the same as choosing to not wear glasses or take antibiotics. You see, there is this other human being involved who had no say in the matter. So, no, in spite of your desire for simplistic answers, it really isn't the same.

I was being sarcastic. This is not the greatest intrusion in personal freedom in history. It barely registers.
