As far as deciding that Valentine's day is worth ignoring I think that it has already been said that doing something supposedly "romantic" motivated by some mass merchandised expectation is just about the most unromantic thing that I can think of. So, I guess when a holiday's "purpose" is self-defeating that is one clue that can be used in deciding
that it is not worthwhile.
You seem awfully defensive, man. I think that you need to reevaluate this holiday. I like Valentines Day. i always have fun with my wife.
This morning I presented my wife and my daughter with 2 Dozen roses each. My wife and I are going to dinner tonight.
It is just fun. Why be a big scrooge about it?
You can celebrate Valentines Day and also be a good husband the rest of the year. It isn't an either/or thing.
Let go of the hate and stress, man. Go get her something fun and start a new tradition.
