If it weren't for the hair plugs he would look 42 and his times are corresponding. He's really on the fast track.
Roger Bannister could run a consistently run a faster 880. Which is actually a bit longer than 800 meters.

Someone who's run 1:43, 3:30, and 3:46 should be able to run 1:55 after sitting on the couch for 6 months doing no running at all. You don't race if you're in that poor of shape.
van den Hengel disgraced himself but yucking it up after his win. I wouldn't gloat that I beat Webb in 1:54, I would be sad for Webb.
what is going on with his sponsorship? Is he still a nike athlete? Was this some (failed) play for NB money (the armory is a NB track)?
no way he can be happy with this, unless he is just trying to get the competitive fires roaring again. Which is my guess - he knew he wasn't in shape and is trying to care again. By racing old school.

And comparing this to Rupp's performance is dismal at best. I don't know why stuck is stuck on Rupp's "fanboys," Webb has just as many and at least Galen produces consistently, dude.
I'm sorry, I don't know how anyone can try to take anything good from this...at least not from what I read in this thread. So far every defense of this performance is either comical or weightless. I hope someone comes out of the woodwork with something useful, but for now...goodbye, Mr. Webb. I hope this is a joke.
so would it have been ok if he won in 1:55? no it wouldn't because every dckhead out here would say he shouldn't be racing inferior competition and that a win against this type of field doesn't really count - plus he should have run 1:51 and blown the field away.
or what time could he have run while losing that would still be sufficient for you a$$holes? 1:45, 1:49, 1:51, 1:52? please pick the time and let alan know what he should run before each of his races so he can prove to you that he is ready for the olympic trials in the next race.
why can't you juvenile children just let him run and whatever the time on the clock says it what it says. he is i am sure most definitely feeling enough, self imposed, stress to perform exceptionally for each competition.
