Orbit is correct, and if coach Connor was offered the UO job at double or triple his pay, he'd leave in a heartbeat and not have to sit out any years or semesters ... and he'd take that UO job, too.
That doesn't support any stance in the debate at all. If Conner were to make that move, he would be given just as much (if not more) sh!t by the LRC community as Trevor has received.
Also I don't think many of you posters are aware of the in-state XC rivalry between UO and UP not only in competition, but also in recruiting. Just as Coach Conner says in the article, many of the kids offered full scholys to UP turn them down for partials or walk-on status at UO and after the recruiting visits the current members of the Pilots roster are acutely aware of who decided to go Duck over Pilot and this only fuels the fire between the two programs. Also given Portland's recent rise, the rivalry has become even more heated. So yes, if you're an out-of-stater and don't follow the weekly/daily fall articles covering the two squads, you might not comprehend how truly entrenched this battle is. Now given this, it is a pretty freaking big deal that one of the UP's own, Trevor Dunbar, arguably their "big score" as far as name recognition and making the Pilots known nationwide on the NCAA XC scene, is transferring to U of Oregon. This is an exaggeration, but it's like a big time football player leaving tOSU for Michigan.
