1.I hate slowing down to run 8:30 pace for a female to keep up.
2.I'd like a faster girl I could draft off on workouts.
3. I could spend time with her while running, it would be efficient.

Runner girls don't date runners they date hockey players from Merrimack
Well...this is awkward...

I think a lot has to do with the age and maturity of the couple in question.
For example Paula Radcliffe's husband was once a 3:34 1500m runner who gave up his career to be the other half of "her team".
There are lots of guys out there who were once competitive runners who had their fill and still run for the enjoyment of it and are a good balance with a competitive spouse, etc.
Basically, a mature man doesn't have a problem with this if they have the proper perspective in life to start with. Usually it takes someone a little older on the guy side of things.
I need the story of what happened between LRC Girl and Stucky.

A male state champion and D1 runner should be able to destroy even world class female distance runner at 400m or less. I know I can beat Shalane at those distances now as a fat 35 year old, 250+ pounder who ran XC/distance at a D1 college at 180 pounds. I can still manage a 53 sec 400m by myself last time I went to the track out of curiousity, faster if someone was there to push me.
Steve would kick your ass from here to Texas. Steve is a man's man.

An honest question... how do successful female runners out there find men who are okay with being slower and perhaps less successful than they are? Yes, some elite runners have boyfriends/husbands who are also professional runners, but many do not. Seems like so many men have ego/self-confidence problems and can't handle a chick who's faster than them. If you are honestly a guy that wouldn't have a problem with this, respond. Curious to see how many say they'd actually handle it. And if you can't, explain, please.
Women who are worth having tend not to like men less successful than them - it is female mate selection, not male mate selection, that results in the phenomena of hot chicks with ugly, but successful guys. The word is female hypergamy - look it up.

Also, to everyone who said find a non-runner...this advice doesn't work for everyone. I'm pretty sure that runners or endurance athletes are my "type", simply because they actually go do things instead of bumming all day long and they are generally good, hardworking people.
If this is your view of people who are not runners or endurance athletes then I would suggest you have a very limited experience of the world.
Also, some people might be runners but have their primary identify and challenges invested in another area. This might be the best of both worlds--able to be active with you but not invested in being faster than you.

Ummm let's see 2 years ago my ex girlfriend of three years broke up with me. My ex fiance left me and took the ring. LRC girl broke my heart. Yes I have plenty of reasons to be bitter with everything.
Yes, like you have an irrational dislike of the awesome G. Rupp, and Rupp continues to go on to ever greater awesomeness.
Can I butt in? I also want to via for fast grad school runner's heart. I'm a med student also.Curious, how fast were you grad school runner? And you, too, med school runner? Now that I think about it, it is a tiny bit intimidating when a woman is great at sports and school. However, it sure beats the alternative; a lazy, unsuccessful woman. Do most guys want to make more money than their wife? I actually want my wife to make as much or ideally more than me; I've seen too many divorces end up bad for the wealthier husband.

I'm a successful female runner (ran d1 in college) and have only dated one guy faster than me ever. I haven't found it to be a big problem. Just don't read into situations-- you don't know if a guy's ego is actually hurt or if he is willing to put this stuff past him to be with you.

Med School Runner - We definitely should have drinks sometime. Fellow letsrun stalker and life sciences PhD - is it destiny?
I would have no problem with a GF being faster than me. On the other hand this would almost certainly imply that she was built like a toothpick and I would not be attracted to her. That could be a problem.
Now, if you are going to say that I myself am probably built like a toothpick and that you would not be attracted to me - I am not going to argue with you. I have no problem admitting that many females would not be attracted to me just as I would not be attracted to that many females.

We exchanged a bunch of long emails and even became facebook friends. Thats a win for stuckers. it was nice nothing too in depth, but yes I found out all the details about everones favorite hockey player and the girl he is kinda dating. I also found out about the post hockey player ordeal results. It was quite interesting and really helped pass the nights at chilis.

No I live in Chattanooga far from the Boston area though I maybe returning my hometown in CT for Christmas. However I doubt any meet up would take place since my I don't meet up girls in real life just the Internet. Hence the name.
I don't know either of them, but they will eventually get divorced.

A good example couple is Steve Edwards and Shalane Flanagan.
Both were D1 runners from the same school (UNC). Steve was a State Champion in High School. Shalane waxes him in any distance. He doesn't seem to have a problem with it.
That being said, Steve is also a genetic freak who can shallow dip spit and is rumored to have kicked Macho Man Randy Savage in the nuts at a bar in Charlotte just for laughs. One time he was drunk at a bar and tried to tackle Julius Peppers. It was like watching him run into a brick wall. Anyway, back to the thread...
Steve is fine with being slower than Shalane. Shalane is fine with being faster than Steve.

As much as stuck hates on others on here i kinda feel bad for him. He clearly has some confidence and self worth issues. He just sounds like a sad case and doesn't have much sense of his surroundings
It's not the speed of a woman faster than me that would be a problem. It's that flat chest I couldn't accept.
