terrible weather and academics in the south and northwest. weather is great in the southwest and the top schools are there.

Oh I almost forgot, you shouldn't pay attention to Oregon. You wouldn't know b/c you're not plugged in here, you likely just saw the results or heard the fanboy chatter on the net. Oregon is great at recruiting amazing talent by finding new and exciting ways to do their scholarships, but not necessarily at making 153.xx guys into 146 guys. look at their MD runners with high school PBs like yours and look at the progression of their college times. Do the same with the other universities you're interested in. Good luck.
Kids from Norway learn English quickly and speak perfectly...I went to HS with a runner named Cato Haug...he was 17 and came over to study in the US for a year as a foreign exchange student...other than a small accent he was 100% fluent...the only thing I made fun of him about was he would say "I too" instead of "me too"...however, the way he said it was perhaps more proper...

My PB's (with the year i ran them)
100m: 11,67 (+0,4) (2011)
200m: 23,57 (+1,0) (2010)
400m: 51,69 (2010)
800m: 1.57 (2011)
1600m(xc): 4.30 (2011)
Torsten,
I hate to say this, but these times will not get you into a Div. I program. You should plan on Div III with the PBs. Try schools like Middlebury, Amherst, or Williams if you like the Northeast U.S. AND you have BOTH top grades and TOP standard tests (SATs).
Good luck,
Right, from 1:55++(?) or so to Olympic team in several years+1:43-44//3:31, and 1500 bronze at the WCs by a college kid.

They'll easily get him into a poor program, and he coudl probably drop soem time still and get into a better program.
Villanova's coach was a four time olympian middle distance runner, and Villanova has never had a problem with recruiting outside of the country.
the weather sucks in most parts of the usa except southern california which produces the bulk of the t&f and running medals in contrast.

Come on! I'm only in my second year of norwegian high school! I won't be applying for an university before summer 2013, and I asume my times will drop considerably by then. And as I already wrote in other replies; I was injured most of this season. This year i was supposed to go 1,55, but didn't because I got injured (but I was definately good enough to do it right before injury struck!). Next year I'll run 1,52, and then 1,49 the summer before I go to the States.
Cause 1,49 is fast enought to get me a scholarship (or at least a spot on the team) in for example Stanford og UO Virginia?

Torsten-
I would try the University of Virginia, first and foremost. They have who I believe to be the best middle distance coach in the country and they are outstanding academically. As a bonus, the coach isn't scared of foreigners. The weather is decent and the women are bangin.
Next: Stanford. Fantastic academics, great athletics. Pretty good in the middle distances with potential to be great, great weather year round, always a strong, strong choice.
Third: Villanova- the coach is great, the academics are pretty good. Problem: it is catholic, so you have to deal with all that BS. Also the training style is Jack Daniels-esque, if you're OK with that. ALso, the winters are cold as F.
Fourth: Oklahoma State. not as great academically, but honestly University is what you make of it. The coach is pretty good, but the town of stillwater blows. Especially coming from Norway.
Hope this helps. Good luck, step up those times this season.
Thanks! Great info! (especially the women part!)
Times will be steped up!

Fine, then come back in a year and show us what you have achieved. All of your assumptions mean zilch. Once you have real numbers, come back and we can talk intelligibly.

I probably will, but I find no reason to not begin my university research early. I have learned a lot from the guys here on LetsRun.
Btw, what does zilch mean? I can't find it in the word book.
I have a Swedish freshman running for me at my college. We are in the Southeast part of the US.
He struggled massively early in the season due to heat but now that it's gotten cooler he is doing fine.
He was a top orienteering athlete but has transitioned well to cross country and we believe he will do the same with track.
The temperature and cultural differences will be large for you.
And clearly, Oregon, Virginia are not your only choices.
Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah
Wonder what ever happened to this guy, if he ever did run 1:49.
Found his page at UCSD but no results on TFRRS:
