There'd be two salads on the Wendy's challenge as well. It'd take 4-5 minutes alone to put away the Frosty. I don't think this could be done in under 18 minutes... And, yes, I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is. Maybe at Grandma's? That'll give you a little time to train.
I don't really have a set strategy yet. I'm thinking I will go after the sandwiches first. Then the fries...Okay I just go done getting my money's worth at the Pizza Hut lunch buffet, so I don't really have the motivation to map out plan right now. The salad is the hardest part I've heard, but I've paid attention to my training and I know what I'm capable of just like Larry Mboga. Wait...

I just got done interviewing Larry Mboga. He said he's done the McDonald's $1 Challenge in 7:33, and the Wendy's $.99 Challenge in 16:32. Qatar offered him 1.8 mil to eat for them, but, despite his citizenship issues here, he's remaining loyal to the Stars and Stripes.... Seriously, someone talk to a Senator and get this guys paperwork expedited!

Do you have to start eating as soon as you get the food from the McDonalds server-person? Or can you wait a bit to fire the gun?
You'd still be eating the same amount of food, but the apple pie could cool off and the ice cream would get kind of melty. It would speed things up quite a bit.
That's what I was thinking. Definetely gotta let the pies cool. I don't think it would be unreasonable to allow a certain cooling interval before you have to start chowing.
They have a similar menu in the UK called a pound saver menu, with around 10 items on it. After a 5k, me and another runner (who I shall not name, but runs for England) each ate it leisurely in 13mins, plus an apple pie for good measure. I imagine its easily possible in 10.
I once made the mistake of attempting an eating challenge after a long run, and failed miserably as I had lost my appetite. I?d leave it till a couple of hours after till the cravings really start.
Another good eating challenge is called the 'king size challenge.' It consists of eating (and unwrapping) 2*kingsize mars, 2*kingsize snickers and 2*kingsize Twix. I think their now called 'big one' I?m the UK, but they each weigh 100g anyway (so total of 600g). Its tougher than it looks. I hold the record in my club with 11mins23s.
Thigreat. Definitely going to have to try this. I tried the Milk Challenge, a gallon of milk in half an hour, a couple weeks ago. I made it 3/4ths through the gallon before I projectile vomitted.
Why not just put it all in a blender and drink it down?
Alright, I think you're all right. 10min would be pushing it for the wendys challenge with 2 salads and a potato. However, I have consumed a small frosty under a minute without really trying - I was just hungry - so I think <12min is doable.
Also in my opinion, throwing up during any eating/drinking challenge should immediately disquality you. Thats the way we play in my neck of the woods anyway. Part of the challenge is dealing with the pain/impulse to puke.
Dollar Menu Challange Recap:
Started out my morning at 7:00am running the first 22 miles of Grandmas Marathon. Went pretty well (2:17) but I was definetly hungry when I got done. Felt pretty confident.
I went home and stretch, showered, drank a lot of water and then made my way down to the London Rd. McDonalds.
Got a weird look from the cashier when I said "I would like the Dollar Value Menu, please." Took awhile to get across that I would like the whole Dollar Value Menu, not a Value Meal.
Here are the items in the order I ate them along with my splits:
NOTE: I drank a medium Hi-C Orange throughout.

As you can see from the splits I went out too hard and crashed. It hit me about the middle of the first apple pie. My thinking before starting was that I would try to get down as much as I could as quickly as I could so I would have the mental advantage. But I should have had more confidence in my training - all those Dennys Grand Slams and Galleybuster Burgers from the Anchor Bar in Superior, WI. My advice is pace yourself and trust your preparations.
The worst part was I had to go sit through my girlfriends college graduation about an hour later. About halfway through the College of Liberal Arts I had to go take a pretty big shit. Of course after taking a big dump and clearing all that room I had to have a Polish Sausage from the concession stand (yes the concession stands at the DECC were open during the ceremony).

Ummm...it isn't as easy as it sounds. There was just no motivation to eat once I got to the pies.
One caveat - this was essentially a time trial - No cheering crowds. With a little encouragement I might have been able to kick it down...or puke, hard to tell.

Mr. Russell, is your training geared towards an event after the event of June 19th? Perhaps the London Road McDonalds, you set the time and those who feel they could contend will meet you. Others such as myself who are well aware of their limitations would make an effort to be there and watch? Looks like the entry fee is 9 dollars plus tax and must be paid on race day directly to McDonalds.

Not bad...not bad at all. I'll be up in Duluth for Grandma's. Maybe I'll be inspired enough to that McD at some point. And then hit the tents for some partying!
I would be willing to set up a post-Grandmas contest at the London Rd McDonalds on June 19. Look for a thread asking for entry submissions in the near future. I still have not heard back from the IFOCE about possible ratification of the McDonalds Dollar Value Menu Challange. It seems that it would be a marketing bonanza for both sides, but I guess McDonalds is trying to distance themselves from the stereotypical customer, what with the adult "happy meals" now. Looks like they are forgetting their roots; the people that made them what they are. I say we remind them.
