Pete, glad to see you like Satriani. Though a lot of people say he is just a technical player without any soul, they are wrong, because his music has so much emotion in it, and the melodies are just awesome. Personally, I love his music a lot more than his guitar playing. Same with Steve Vai. Guitar solos by guys other than them that I like include Sweet Child o' Mine, November Rain (Slash), Eruption (EVH), Comfortably Numb (David Gilmour), Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, Goodbye to Romance (Randy Rhodes), Since I've Been Loving You, Whole Lotta Love (Jimmy Page), Fade to Black, One (Kirk Hammett), Cliffs of Dover (Eric Johnson), Highway Star (Ritchie Blackmore), Hotel California (Joe Walsh, Don Felder [?]), Free Bird (Lynyrd Skynyrd--forgot exact guitarists' names), All Along the Watchtower, Voodoo Child (Hendrix), Floods (Dimebag Darrell, awesome solo), Altitudes (Jason Becker), and a lot of others I can't think of right now. Sorry for the long list, but those all rock.
