Deagu 'Drop Outs' Thread

Who retires will be interesting. What happens to general performance will be interesting. And who of the lower-tier athletes who being non-finalists might have hoped not to get a random test at Daegu but who will now definitely be tested would be interesting if people were interested in those people apart from their home countries.

Some top athletes were tipped off to the blood tests several months ago--those with the best insider info had plenty of time to get clean and come up with good excuses for worse than normal performances in Degau

We of course don't know if they're really going to test everyone. They might be trying to clean up the sport ahead of London, but this could also be a rumor planted by IAAF to scare the druggies away--then those that don't show will get much tighter scrutiny next year.

The point isn't that the blood test/passport will bust her. It's that when they check it AGAIN in 2012 it'll be different.

It takes upwards of $100,000 per athlete to hire the proper technicians and chemists to defeat the USADA/WADA drug testers. I wouldn't worry about the US entrants to the 5K, 10K, 15, 3SC. They have plenty of resources.

There is no reason to believe that the US distance guys are dopers!! The "technicians and chemists" are not able to defeat the USADA/WADA drug testers in the case of the sprinters. Heck even Rodgers is going down now.

jeez no - she is dirty, but a number of sprinters have been busted in recent yrs (Marian Jones, Justin Glatin, LeShawn Marry, Kella Whyte +++)

I see your point. If the time to Daegu isn't enough to clear your system then yes, if she's doping, goes to daegu, is passported, has elevated levels, then stops doping, has lower levels, then the difference will be noted. But that's a big 'if doping', and a smaller 'if time to deagu not long enough to clear'. To the first point she hasn't failed a test, so if she's on something blood tests don't reveal it, so what her passport says won't hurt her. She might as well keep doping. If she is.
