It is a mixture of things. I think everyone loved him at first. He was the poster boy for American distance running. He proved that we could compete with the best. Then the doping allegations and the anti-Salazar movement. It was heartbreaking to think that he had cheated. Everyone pretty much knows he is doping, and if he isn't, he is on the borderline. I think the biggest sign was when Ritz leaving the project. He is a high-quality guy, and from his interviews, you could tell something was going on he didn't like in the Oregon project.
