why do people hate Galen Rupp?

He is too much under the control of Salazar. That has become much more obvious. If Salazar doesn't like someone, then Rupp doesn't either. If Salazar wants something done (take) Rupp does so without question. It seems that Rupp would be more devastated if Salazar passed away than one of his own parents. The Salazar-Rupp relationship is just very strange.

So has he gained any love since the original 2011 original post?

He's gotten two Olympic medals since then plus has the fastest 10,000m time in the world over that period.

But he has no personality.

The Al Sal connection gains no love.

I give him credit for pushing himself and running a range of races at a high level.

Galen Rupp is NOT an American. Go back many years and you'll find out.

All the hatred started when Galen was singled out by Salazar and given every advantage known to mankind from 15-16 onward.

There was the perfectly cradled HSR attempts. The state of the art technology and nutrition administration. The fact he didnt win Footlocker in high school was surprising.

Then we move onto the year he spent as a pro before Salazar was given the job at Oregon. Then Galen went to court, mommy and daddy cut out a check to Nike to pay back all the money he made as a pro and the NCAA allowed him in.

Again, every advantage known to man was given to Galen. What irked many observers were his pollen face masks, race DNS' (rupp-certified) and seemingly high pitched Gaylen voice. At the 2008 trials he sped past Solinsky and a few others who were packing it in for the 5000m Q and raised his hand at the Oregon crowd. Then he dropped out of the 5000m finals.

No matter how you look at it, the dude is by far the best marathoner we have in our country at the moment.

Talk all the crap you guys want but he has run 2 races both tactical and both sorta slow to 2:04 standards both in massive heat, vastly outperforming people with much faster PR'S. Once we do see him in Chicago or Boston, he is going sub 2:06 for the win.

Bernard Lagat yielded a FALSE positive and the Kenyan-born athlete IS an American, specifically a citizen of the USA. A FALSE positive is not a positive analytical finding.
