Right on. LV will be mentored/monitored in the likes of Hasay, Rupp, and Eaton. I actually don't think he's going to "burn out" (whatever folks mean by that). I think he's going to run nasty fast, very soon.
Yes, south kackalacy I know about Tom - a very fine and upstanding fellow.
I have seen both of them run (one very up close, for sure) and was just making an observation.
And I find the sarcasm amazing. I was one of the runners from Tom's generation, and I used track and field to go to one of the best schools in the nation, and on to one of the best graduate schools as well, enabling me to make an amount of income that I never would have imagined, with interesting work to boot. I did this (from a dysfunctional family) because I observed how people like Tom went about their business, and was wise enough to learn.
While from a wealth perspective being superintendent of schools doesn't come close to the levels to which I have become accustomed, I have incredible amount of respect for Tom and his career in education. Always the classiest of competitors (and the same could be said about Gregorek and Spivey and Chris Fox as well), it speaks well of our sport that its participants reach the level of success and respect in the community to which Tom has reached. And despite your sarcasm, it was not attained by accident.
As long as he is mentored to understand that his time will come 5-8 years from now, then he will be fine. If he is sucked up by the parasites around him, he will have problems.
So far, he seems to know how to handle his own business in his own personal way. If he continues, he will create a new path.
Some people got way ahead of themselves when they were 18 in a small environment and didn't know how to handle it. Those types should be mentors now ... but most likely won't.

Not sure what you guys are arguing about, but I was interested to hear that Graves is a superintendent. A noble profession for sure, and a good one for an athlete. You have to be tough as nails and be prepared to be knocked off your perch frequently, as it appears he was last month by the school board.
