On the Girls side, ER was a flash in the pan. Plus their Boy's haven't won anything since the 80's.
Walter Johnson is clearly the top program in MD, with several State and Runner-up finishes on both sides, plus a number of individual champions.

I assumed we were talking XC.

Oregon - Jesuit.
This is of course when you look at both mens and womens xc and track.
WRONG !
For boys South Eugene
Both Philomath by far
Jesuit has only been good since they started allowing girls to attend 93? before that Jesuit was not much.
New Hampshire: Monadnock boys and Gorham girls
Nequa Valley, NO DOUBT, the best in IL currently, we are talking about the future right, cause that is where I live, not the past, york is has beens, NV is the new the great the where it is at now
hahaha i hope you spelled chris derrick's name wrong on purpose...
Either way though youre an idiot. We are talking about the past. York has been the best in IL for DECADES and are still tops in the nation. Although they may get beat every now and then, York will never be "has beens". They are easily the biggest dynasty in HS track and field history.

XC Boys/Girls: Carmel
Last 10 years or so, definitely Columbus North over Carmel for boys.
But historically, Carmel is the choice.
Vermont:
Boys: Mount Mansfield Union/ St. Johnsbury Academy
Girls: Champlain Valley
Sure, historically. But just because they were the best through the 70-80's doesn't mean they are the top program right now. Did the OP specify all time or current?
Philomath for both? Both what? Philomath has that xc streak going on and perhaps they are fantastic for their level, but they are hardly the top program in the state when regarding all classes.
Summit and Carter have dominated 5a. CC dominated boys xc for a few years. Siuslaw girls in xc. Wilsonville's boys in everything. Benson in track. In the end though I think Jesuit has won the most tiles at the highest level.
Will not argue against SEXC being the best all time. Crap, they are the best high school track/xc program in the nation when regarding the past! Still an excellent program, always fighting for a podium spot no matter what season or gender!

I'll suggest Blacksburg and Midlothian for VA. They both have national caliber runners each year.
For VA I would still give Midlo the edge in the distances based on their 10+ years of success (Blacksburg has only recently emerged in the last 4-5 years), and the post-HS success of their runners.
In Track, it's gotta be Western Branch.
All solid programs; however, NONE of the above could touch the great Handley HS program from '72 - '80.
Mississippi: Pearl and Tupelo High Schools by far.
Wayzata presently. Stillwater is not the best right now. Their era was in the mid 90's till bout 2005 or a couple more. Heck Scott even wasnted out for the Gustavus job. Done. Over.
For Ohio for men you would be hard pressed to find a school the size of Sandusky Perkins with the school records they have. Not going to match the sprint powers at a little country school but still 10.7 100, 21.75 200, 1:50.77 800, 4:08.03 1600, 8:46.7 3200, 7:50 4 times 800, 3:18 4 times 400, 65 foot shotput, 180 plus discus all at a public school with 750 enrollment total.

No doubt about it. Carmel is a midwest legend.
State track titles in OH it would have to be the Tarblooders. They've been a power for decades.
long beach wilson girls team is usually good, lashind demus, ebony collins, angela cooper, shelise williams all currently doing well and many more.
their boys team is never good.
berkeley in the early 1980's had to be about the best high school team ever, they had about a dozen guys who ran under 48 that year, they had national records in the 300 hurdles, 800 meters a mile relay. they had a 100 and 200 meter runner named kenny robinson who claimed to be the younger brother of former 800 meter great james robinson who regularly ran 44 for 400 splits in the mile relay.
muir used to be good every year, one year they had an a and a b team in high school invites that would both go sub 41 in the same race in the 4 x 100 relay, obea moore was the star that year, but they were always good.
edison in huntington beach had some good teams, fountain valley coached by larry greer had 5 kids on his high school team all under 4:20 for the mile and 9:20 for the 2 mile the same year steve brown, bob erickson, ned moser, tom strelow and 1 other guy, and they had 2 good girls annabelle villanueva and bonnie mcglinchey.
remember these are public schools who just got kids who happened to live in the neighborhood, unlike private schools that can recruit from out of district.
Those are nice records I suppose, but has Perkins ever won a state title?
The thread is about the TEAM powers
Track
Boys-Glenville
Girls-Reynoldsburg
CC
Boys-Woodridge
Girls-Magnificat
Yes, private schools concentrate on recruiting track athletes because they bring in the big bucks and all that recognition. They are definitely supposed to honor "districts" drawn up for public schools. And we all know every public school AD is clean and "never" recruits....Private schools, for the most part, lag WAY behind public schools in xc and track. What are you complaining about? Just check out the NXN roster every year. How many private schools have made nationals? You're right though, those were some great teams.

4 private schools made NXN this year, boys and girls, and none were from California.
PA - Altoona, Abington, Cheltenham, North Penn are the four power houses.
certainly not fixed!
Costa ran the third fastest time in Woodward Park history! You cant put Great Oak in front of them. No team has come closer to Saugus EVER than Mira Costa
