It's BECAUSE of what Rupp wears that makes it so hard to just focus on how he runs. Personally, I was cheering for the guy beforehand. I really wanted him to get up there and give it a shot. But the damn jacko mask ruined it for me. How in the hell can any blue collar runner root for a guy that wears a damn mask while running that is not associated with religious beliefs or some nuclear shit hampering the air. He's forever a dick now. Forever.

So why do you think he wore the mask? Lets say it was because cold air causes asthma or something like that. Would you be happier if he DNS? Or that he didn't care what people like you think and decided to run the bloody race no matter how stupid he looked?

I believe the post was an attempt at humor. You see surgeons are known to wear masks while in surgery. Galen was wearing a mask. Therefore, the poster was trying to tie to the two together in a humorous way and imply that when not running, Galen could be going to medical school to become a surgeon. It then beckons the question did he get confused and wear his compression socks to class last night and his mask to the race today?

Ridiculous or not it does seem to be an allergy (or potential allergy) related thing since he took it off after they got out of Central Park, no?

Seriously, if he doesn't want people to think he's a prima donna, he probably should never wear the Silence of the Lambs mask again.....a simple white or green surgical mask would suffice.

Probably took it off when he felt his lungs were warmed up. It didn't seem to hinder his performance.
