MO FARAH to train with OTC

Ritz is better than Farah. The guy has a world championship medal, and has run 12:56, 27:22, and 60:00. All of those times are faster than Farah's PR's. Either way you judge, by times or hardware, Ritz is more accomplished.

Why is it so hard for you people to see the advantage to this move? It's very simple, in the UK he does workouts alone since no one is running at his level. In the US, he trains with Rupp and sometimes Ritz and Webb. There's really not that much to it.

Storey didn't even coach him last year.

As far as I know all Shoe Contracts end on December 31. I dont know why Mo's would be different.

Also as far as I know there is a provision every Shoe Contract that allows the Shoe Company to match any offer from another company.

This means that Nike will have to put up a number that adidas is not willing to match. Given that Mo is a medal threat from the UK when the Olympics are going to London, this number could get very high. If Mo breaks his contract I will expect to see a lawsuit from adidas. Seems like more trouble than its worth, he was doing pretty well before... to each their own.

This article implies that Mo has already signed a new deal with Nike.

By alone do you mean that he has the option of training with Micah Kogo and the rest of the PACE group?

to say that Ritz is better than Farah is nothing short of ridiculous!! Ritz had a purple patch for about 3 months, but has done little since. Mo is a 3k/5k runner and Ritz 5k-marathon.

Mo has finished 10th in World XC (in Kenya). He has only run 2 track 10k's- his debut (27:44) and the euro title win. I am sure he will be considerably quicker than 27:22 this year. Have Mo and Ritz ever raced head to head

Mo has run 3:33, 7:34, 12:57, 27:44 (debut)

Ritz 12:56, 27:22, 60:00, 2:10

These 2 athletes barely overlap. Would be great to see Solinsky, Rupp, Farah, Ritz race the 10k at Stanford this year, could go super fast.

Great so all of the morons on here who blindly support the OTC and the Al Sal program despite its failures are going to use Mo as a way to justify the OTC if he medals in london. Except al sal and the OTC wont have anything to do with it as he is proven succesful in the Europe games. All the success he has in the near future can not be credited to OTC and the Al Sal program. However the idiots on this site will use this.

The minor placings in the Olympic marathon, while definitely a fine achievement, aren't exactly something to declare an athlete's superiority on. I think that Mo's double gold at European championships is a lot more impressive than Ritz's Oly 9th.

Take a look at the list of athletes who have come 9th or better in a given event. Particular in the marathon, you'll find more than a few less-than-legendary runners (Ritz among them). And no, outside of US fanboy land, 2:10 marathons aren't considered elite on the world stage.

Its a Nike sponsored program surely it makes sense for them to have a top runners from the UK as well as the USA -that covers both markets. Surely the land of capatitalism could appreciate that?

Someone above said Mo's contract would have finished on 31st Dec - as far as I know they are right he's out of contract - just still wearing the free gear

The ideal training partner is someone which is slightly better than you. For Rupp it makes perfect sense - who's to say he won't beat him in the championships. Plus he may well target the 10 and Mo the 5

True, but running 60:00 in the half and getting a bronze medal at the WORLD championships is better than any of Mo's achievements thus far. It doesn't matter that Mo doesn't run the half, he doesn't have the hardware that Ritz has on the world stage in his best event. Ritz also has a faster 5000m PR than Mo, and the 5000 is Mo's best event. How could you possibly conclude that Mo is better than Ritz? Until they race each other, times and hardware determine who is better... and Ritz has done more so far than Mo.

And some minor league dude wishes he had the failures of Jason Giambi. The OTC and the al sal program has been a failure. How many medals have come out of OTC in Oly/WC in the last 4 years? Indoors don't count either... When Al Sal started this he talked about winning mass medals in these events and being competitive in them. Well 2 mere medals in the last 4 years isn't exactly competitive now is it.

OTC + Al Sal = Failure
