How can I improve when my coach is an absolute moron?

Start running workouts slow, cooling down far. Tell coach your legs hurt and can't go any faster. You will not be kicked off team for running workouts slow. You will get faster

Sounds like he is also pretty dumb if he thinks his numbers don't tell the real story about him as a coach. If you know is he respected by other coaches in his district ad region?

Thanks, appreciate it. Very few of the coaches in the area have any respect for him whatsoever, especially because he make's idiotic posts on the milesplit website for our state.

Hey everybody who commented on this thread, I just want to say thanks. I ended up sandbagging a few days a week then doing the team coach's workouts at the paces another coach gave me. Eventually, I came up with a bogus excuse to miss practice for a month and followed the other coach's schedule. I ended up running 10:04 for the 3200, pretty solid coming off injury like that.

Oh, and my team coach kinda hates me now, but as I turned out to be the top distance runner on the team there's no way he's going to kick me off. As weird as it is to say this, thank you LetsRun, for helping my dreams become reality.
