I'm 6' 2" and weighted 170-175 during my best running days. There's nothing I could have done to get under 170. I'd gain five pounds from doing a pushup. I just gain muscle easy. However, I don't think my body type hurt me at the mid-distance races. My teammates use to call me fat, but they lacked the leg strength to come anywhere close to me at 400/800. The muscle mass can be a blessing, I suppose, if you can take the mileage. I never quite could without getting hurt, so my times fall off a lot.
PRs:

yeah i know i'm fat!!
same story (171-173 pounds), except I was 6' even, could run mileage and had prs of
200-22.7
400-48.3
800-1:47.4
1500-didn't run it much, but could hang with a guy who did 3:42-he acknowledged that I could have probably been right with him as we worked out together all the time.
8k xc-usually in the mid or high 24s.
I just had very dense muscular hips, and quads that put john walkers to shame. I had very little fat on my body at all. If I did pushups or any type of exercise for the chest, back or arms, I packed on the muscle. But I had thin forearms and calves-perfect for middle distance running.
Damn, almost the same:175-180 @ ~6'2"400 - 48.X relay split800 - 1:53.9 (1:52.x split at penn)1500 - 4:065k on grass - 16:32

1500: 4:08
3200: 9:47
5000: 16:08

Now that I am about 160, my PRs are:

First of all, 6"0' (which means 6 inches tall) and 170+ would possibly be the fattest thing on the planet.
Second of all, if you meant 6'0", which I suspect you did, this height coupled with a 170+ pound frame puts one at the high end of the normal range on the BMI scale. In other words, it isn't skinny. For a runner, especially a competitive runner, 6'0" and 170 is very big. For a cornerback in the NFL, it would be a little small.

I once ran a 5k in 21:10 or so when I weighed 181. Took 6 months and got down to 133 and then ran 16:48. That's been a while now though. At my best running in my 20s, I was at 119 pounds.
Actually, these guys are truly that fast. Somerandom Dude is from CA and i've seen him run most of those marks w/ my own eyes. The 3:40 at 190 seems a bit of a stretch though. He probably ran them all w/ board shorts as well.
5' 11" 180lbs.

I only started distance running 11 years after college. I was a 45.87 400m runner in college when I weighed 166
6'2" and 185
The only people who consider me fat are loser runners who obsess over running and weight. I would rather eat what I want, pack some muscle to attract girls other than anorexic runner girls, and still be able to kick some skinny runner's ass in the parking lot.
2:58 marathon
1:22 half
All the dorks running 100 mile weeks and not making an actual living off of running need some other hobbies besides running.
185 pounds and 6-4 (6-5 now)

400 - 47.8

deadlift 520
200: 24 high
400: 52
800: 1:58 indoors
Mile: 4:23
2-Mile: 10:03 slow xc course
actually i took a couple of years to come up w the boardshorts/long shorts thing...and yeah, makes me chuckle too, funny that my 15 pb came so heavy and i never improved it. most of that 190 was b/c i'd just left triathlon the year before, so still had the swimmer bulk, took almost two years to get it off.
side note, McMullen told me he raced at 168, so his 3:33.xx has to be up there for weight records. not even sure solinsky can get that one, though it's not out of the question.
