Making the pro run double the distance was disrespecting his abilities?
When Shaq does these events he always handicaps the pro and praises their abilities while putting on obvious shtick to say he can "compete" with them.
The audience is in on it. It is all in good fun and the pro gets good pub each time.
Seriously ive seen some of the other ones of these. Shaq is a fabulous showman- this event was obv goofy but yeah the relay was exciting at least even if staged. Certainly not a bad thing and good for Tyson to get some much deserved exposure with the general population.

You're forgetting the relay, with Gay "pushing hard as possible" to win, when he wasn't far behind to begin with. The average person doesn't know what they're seeing, and will not put the correct spin on it, like we will.

Definitely good for exposure. If you actually looked at the guys sprinting, it looks like Howard is trucking but Mo is obviously chilling as are the middle legs. The only person who is probably going full tilt is Shaq, which I bet would get destroyed by the likes of Adam Nelson even.
They should have done Shaq vs. Christian Cantwell. I bet Shaq could actually throw the shot pretty far in a weeks time giving his massiveness.

Would had been better for our sport if they lined up Shaq, Mo Greene, Chris Johnson and Gay in an all out 60m. Then 'Joe Public' really had a chance to see what sprinting means and we would put and end to the silly discussion of 'CJ beating UB' if he not only got his *ss handed to him bij about 15m by Gay, but by an overweight, out of shape Mo as well.
This is very very bad publicity for Track and Field.

The general public would also prefer this. I think someone needs to set up an all star 60 or 100m race with some top basketball players, Nfl players, Soccer players, sprinters and possibly people from other sports. I think the general public would show a keen interest in how fast these guys really are compared to each other. Of course with injury risks etc I doubt we would ever see it ever happen.

Tyson: 50 meters? 55 m?
Track alone wouldn't work because shaq probably couldn't break 6 minutes in the mile at his age. But I would love to see a shaq vs: Decathlon. And if that wouldn't work you could always do shaq vs serena williams: Who's bigger, blacker, and manlier?
