I agree. Listening to Stanford post race interview seems they were going all out. How would they have faired with another 1.2 miles to run?

Now the question is are they a great 8K team, that can not handle that additional 1.2 miles and are a poor 10K team?

Maybe Dave Smith (is as smart as I think) is smarter than all you nay sayers think and is very smart for taking OSU to Chile Pepper the last 2 years and having them run a 10K before nationals. That last 1.2 miles seperates the men from the want to be me

All five OSU runners made All-American. If any of the OSU top three had not finished, OSU still would have won handily. Fourth largest margin in history.

Unleash the I-told-you-so's, ha ha. I missed this thread before, but appreciate the shadenfreude. Lesson learned hopefully -- you can make predictions without being a dick about it.

Exactly...where are dreams and not gonna happen now? Not so smart now. You were vocal in your overthinking BS...why don't you be just as vocal owning up to your foolish comments now?

Seems that a mediocre runner Stublaski sprouted wings at nationals.

Once again Stanford choked at nationals. OSU has all 7 coming back next year and some hungery runners waiting in the wings. I want them to three-peat. But they have to run the race. I can not be sure they will win.

Go to Flotrack and listen to the Wisco coaches interview. They had 4 in the top 20 at 9K and then one went out the back door and finished between 115 and 120. There went their 2nd place finish.

We can think were so smart that we can predict the out come of 5 of 7 runners in championship race. Not possible. IT not like boxing matche where you have a 50/50 chance on predicting the out come. There are 31 teams and 250 runners whose out come is not predictable.

I like these two from "Not gonna happen."

Top eight finish 50-50

Top five finish - remote chance

Top three finish - no chance"

I love this list as well... OKSt 10, FSU (albiet a darkhorse) 22, Duke/ASU/Texas! It's always fun to laugh at the past.

Someone has to figure out how we can get "Dreams apparently die hard" back in here so we can rub his nose in this a little bit more. It's awesome when people are so horrifically wrong in such a public setting.
