Natural Light is more cost effective than Bud Light. Why wouldn't you drink that instead? Probably because it has the stigma of cheap, college beer. In reality, it's the same watered down shit as Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light etc...
Also, what is giving into societal pressure more? Spending money on a product that spends millions and millions of dollars on advertising to compensate for it's cheaply made product OR spending a little extra on a higher quality product, made by a smaller company?

This guy has a good point. If it was all about getting drunk for little $, people would all be drinking the cheapest beer out there, but they don't. Because they actually think Bud, Coors, Miller, etc taste good, and they think it is kinda classy, which of course it isn't.
My Dad kept it real. He would drink "Red, white, and blue", or Schlitz when it was way out of style, or Black Label, or Knickerbocker, or others of the cheapest beers one could find in the store. He didn't care. He was a cheapskate, so he put his $ where his mouth was, literally. (or something like that).
So people who drink Bud, etc are the real posers. And PBR ?? Don't get me started with that silly blue collar chic thing.
Having said all that, if you hand me a bud, or a coors, or whatever, and that's my only choice, I will drink it. It's beer, and I am man, so do the math.
But if I have a choice, and the price is even slightly reasonable, I will purchase something interesting, unique, dark, foreign, etc. I've tasted Bud a million times in college. Do I REALLY need another one? not if I am buying/choosing. And if I really want to get hammered, I will do a some shots of JD along with my quality beer.
