Lananna is being selfish to make Jordan Hasay run the DMR, mile, AND 3k!

Actually, I did all four events at my high schools league meet and wish I hadn't. I felt dead afterwards and the next week at the regional meet I had a sub par performance compared to what I had been running. As a coach I would put the individual above the team in this situation. It is indoor track for goodness sakes. One race is plenty! Let the chips fall where they may. Noone cares about how many indoor track titles you have. Actually, in general, indoor track is a detriment to the development of distance runners. The winter should be spent focusing on developing a solid base of strength and the spring should be spent doing hard interval workouts and races. We waste our time in this country trying to peak three times a year, while the other countries who are far ahead of us just peak once or twice.

Kesselring is 20 years old, so don't think you could count her as a "true" frosh.

Normally I would think an 18 year old would be at a huge disadvantage against 22 year. Ie.. Browning, Follet, etc. etc. and would be in danger of trying to hard and getting injured, etc., but Hasay was doing Olympic Trials at 16, this is not a career threatening situation.

when you are a full ride runner.. you are there to win a freakin championship.... Get over it... if you gotta run 3 races to do that then you gotta do that.. quit crying..

Yeah a coach being selfish attempting to lead his team to an NCAA championship. better tell my coach to not be selfish and let Keene State win the outdoor conference championship.

The funny thing is, at least in Rupp's case doing the 3 races in two days was really no more difficult than what he did at Pac-10's, Regionals and NCAA's outdoors. In fact a regular week in the season is likely much tougher since he keeps up about 100 running miles as well as the weights and drills and does things like race an 800 & mile in the same night, and then heads out for a fartlek or tempo and then finishes off with weights.

It's all a matter of relativity and Rupp has been putting that kind of work in for years. Hasay seems to have done some pretty serious training in during high school. Maybe she is more than capable of it like Rupp was.

Look, it's ONE meet that he's asking her to triple. If this was season long trend, it would be a different story.

I can't believe halfer actually compared in high school league championships to ncaa division 1 championships. that is just really funny to me. Once I ran 4 events at a dual meet and then I was tired for the big saturday invitational. It still makes me mad today, haha.

If only I had been able to win the blue ribbon that saturday my life would have been so much better.

OMG. She's part of a team, they are trying to win a team title. It doesn't matter if she wins any of the races, but scores as high as she can.

Flotrack just reported that he won't make the flight due to blood pressure issues.

I've done the triple for the team as a runner on a "free" education, and it was awesome at the time - I would have done anything for my team to win NCAA's. Was it worth it? At the time, yes. Now, I wonder if my career would have been better after college had I not raced all that much and followed more of the European school of thought and Dick Brown's philosophy that the college schedule kills our athletes. Hindsight is 20/20.

In reunions with my high school teammates and college teammates and athletes I knew all over the world -- this "regret" has never come up, NEVER.

The most repeated regret?

Over training, or improper training.

Tripling or quadrupling. Give me a break.

collegiate sports are about winning as a team. im a huge jordan fan and would love to see her win the mile and 3k but lananna needs to look out for the team and not just one athlete. i bet if you ask jordan that she will agree. its statements like this that make people think that track isnt a team sport or even a sport at all.
