PLNU has known for MANY years (at least 10 years, maybe more) that they would lose the Sunset Cliff Park field, this is NOT a new development. It would seem that if they had more urgency 10 years ago, they would have found a suitable replacement field by the time they had to leave the Sunset Cliffs city field.

They found a field for this season only. The timeline must have gone like this.
May 2009 - city gets rid of softball field
Fall 2009 - Navy rents a field to help out for 1 season only
Feb 2009 - gives up on finding a field and cancels 2011 softball (SD fields are booked solid year-round, many unsuitable for NAIA, plnu would be the bottom of SD's waiting list)
- plans to drop men's golf for women's golf to get the male/female balance back to where it was before softball was axed
- goes to OCR to approve the plan who said that's nice, but you were wildly out of balance before dropping softball and this plan only gets you back to that point
- men's track/xc is added to the ax list and OCR approves the plan
I take it that NAIA requires private schools to comply with Title IX.
