since you obviously didn't get it, it's one thing to be off. ritz was off at US cross and still won handily. wheating was off at NCAA indoors last year and ncaa outdoors as well. he finished 2nd and 1st respectively. germans "gems" indicate a talent level that at the very least rivals guys like ritz and wheating if not exceeds them, but yet he has these miserable performances and/or dnfs. so i'll say it again, when he's not 100%, he's way off. that is what a head dr. is for and it's not a bad thing. it has helped other runners immensely.

No one does anything worth mentioning, aside from Lowe and the british mate Tom Farrell. Well, honorable mention to the great Romanian in the 800m, Rual! Nothing new. They always suck it up at conference in track. Kind of hard not to with only distance runners. That being said, from the medium amount of knowledge I have all that is OSU, their boys were probably shit tired going into this meet. Harder/faster is not always better, and the only way an athlete improves is if they recover from their efforts. These are two lessons I don't think Mr. Smith will ever learn. Pounding athletes into the ground so that half of them DNF (like in many past years) is coaching at its worst. Phenominal recruiter though.

The cowboys will have their day. I'm guessing it will be Stanford a 5-6 weeks from now.

I was at the race, about 600m in German was starting to pull away from a slow pack, and a meet worker not paying attention stepped in front of him. he had to kind of side skip to to side and it looked like he may have rolled an ankle in doing so as he awkwardly ran for another 50m or so then dropped out. I saw him jogging later and there was a definite limp.

If this is correct, I feel very sorry for German.

you shit on somebody pretty hard who perfectly coached those same distance runnners to a national championship this fall, you have no grounds for attributing germans dnf directly to smith. last year german really sucked it up at conference too right...

I hope this is what happend. I minor twisting of an ankle. He should be ready to go by NCAA time, but DS said on OSU web page GF was not at 100%.

Yeah I was right there as well. The official wasnt looking and stepped out right in front of him. German jumped back and was out 50 meters later. The official didnt even care but he was later kicked out I think because he wasn't working the shot put anymore...
