This is why I love Brian Sell. No sugar-coated bullshit or fake politeness. As upset as people may be that the internet community is getting insulted/slighted, it is absolutely true. If any of us were really that good, we wouldn't be wasting our time on here arguing with a bunch of people we've never met. There's more important things to do.

Posts like this are the height of idiocy. Where does Ryan Hall say that he wants letsrun to die or that he thinks that people shouldn't follow the sport? He was asked if he follows these boards- he said that he does not because reading the opinions of people who have only surface knowledge (if that) is not going to help him get better. That is an entirely rational perspective. there is nothing condescending or unappreciative about it. Face it: most of the people who predict things on here or argue about who has the better coach or who is the better athlete really don't know anything about these athletes (besides a cursory biography) or what its like to train at their level, what challenges they have to deal with etc... Considering all of this, why in God's name would they frequent this site? Do NFL coaches read fan message boards to get their gameplans for the next week? Do Kobe or Lebron read the comments on their YouTube videos to figure out what skills they need to work on? No that would be preposterously dumb.
Keep in mind as well that he didn't "call out" letsrun. He was asked if he visited it and responded that he stays away, hardly controversial stuff here.

If a council including Zatopek, Shorter, Geb, Bekele, El G, Lydiard, Bowerman, Jesus, Mohammed, Moses, Zoroaster, the Buddha, and Yoda dispensed the best and wisest information on running and life here, maybe twenty percent of the audience would take notes and thank them. Forty percent would scream that they were full of shit, thirty-five percent wouldn't stop accusing them of doping for long enough to read their posts, and the remaining five percent would correct their grammar.
And most of us would give them x/10 ratings.
