I agree, but I didn't care about it being a "record". I was more interested in the performance as an indicator of his fitness level going into Worlds. That is if the workout is being reported accurately.

Correct. Ritz cannot know if he will be running world xc, he can only really say he is running the US trials with hopes of making the world team (which he should do easily)

that workout out scares me. if true it is amazing. but, remember when ryan hall was doing all these amazing PR workouts before the olympics? when the race came he felt "flat." i hope this doesn't happen to Ritz. i wish the world half champs were the day he ran that 10 miler.

This dude ran 13:44 in HIGH SCHOOL. Is it so hard to believe that he has now finally reached a level where he can do these types of workouts after being healthy for a good, long stretch? He just ran 12:56 guys. Do you remember him at 17, 18? He was unreal. Was he "doing something suspect" as a teenager? Is EPO readily available in Rockford, MI? Come on, Ritz is a super talent and finally has some direction to his program. He's simply cashing in on all the hard work he's done this year. Its sad because he's crazy fit so many people think he's on something. Get a clue.

Actually, Hall admitted his workouts weren't clicking before Beijing and that he was forcing things.

I really hope Ritz breaks Hall's HM AR record.

27:11 10k pace for 10 miles in a workout doesn't sound unreasonable? I have no doubt he's in incredible shape, but an AR in a workout? I'm guessing the 10 miles was a little short.
