Please tell me that this is not the same Dan Huling who just ran an 8:14 steeple? If so, this gives all steeplers a bad name.

Chaffee and Dutile were either teammates or one town apart in hs. Pretty good show for the Upper Valley.

I'd say race of the day goes to Phillip Reid, 14:09 on that road course with 13:55 5000 and 29:16 10000 PRs. Go Ags.

Bolota Asmerom only ONE second behind tegenkamp. Guy constantly gets no love/respect here, and almost pulled off an upset if Tegenkamp would have made a mistake somewhere.

All this off of MARATHON training as he prepares for New York.

I'd say Jordan Horn had the race of the day. His 5k PR is nowhere near the top 3 guys, yet he was less than a second behind Fam and and 2.6 seconds behind Teg.

I've gotta disagree. I respect Bolota Asmerom but his PR is 40 seconds faster than Phillip Reid's. Teg was running a strategic race. Bolota's good race and finish time was much further off his 5000-meter track PR (13:15) than Phillip Reid's.

but what is phil reids 5k road pr? i believe he ran 13:59 last year on an uphill course, with horn right behind at 14low. in htat sense, jordan had the "better" performance, no slight to reid.

further, the bolota fan is prob right, being in contention in a kickers race during marathon training truly IS impressive. go atolob!

I saw the results, but how did the women's race play out? Did they stay in a pack for awhile? Did anyone go out hard and fall off at the end?

yes, some kenyan girl went out with the lead mens pack (they were 4:30), got dropped by them at 1k, caught by the rest of the women at 1.5mi, then finished in around 17min. awesome job of pacing!

Asmerom is going to run the NYC marathon? when did he decided to make this jump? or is it all part of his base training but plans to keep coming back to the track a la ritzenhein and rhines?

How close do you follow the sport? Rhines has not run a marathon in over 5 years and has no intention in ever running one again.

Definitely. Asmerom could possibly the most underrated runner in the country.
