you guys are ridiculous. running a 4:45 for this dude should be nothing after 6 weeks of decent distance training. Freshman year of highschool I was able to get down to a 4:41 after spending the entire winter playing soccer, and having not ran cross country the previous fall, and I don't consider myself extremely talented by any means. The big issue here isn't talent, as many of you have suggested, but the fact that the dude isn't overweight, so he'll be able to jump into actual training pretty quickly instead of worrying about trying to drop 35 pounds first.
If he does a little bit of research, gets a decent training plan, and is committed to running six days a week, theres no way this dude doesn't get a 4:45.

Of course there is a way: he just told you that he got injured and failed to run 4:45. Too much, too soon, easy to predict.
