8:14 is crazy good. At a major track and field championship when only 3 Kenyans (plus some transfers) get to compete, 8:14 will get you to finals and place top 6 or so. This was the fastest year ever this year, so look back further than Berlin.
Huling and his coach need to figure out how to get that level of fitness at Worlds/Olympics!

There's a big difference between getting dragged along to a fast time in a GL meet and in running that fast in a championship meet.
It's a step in the right direction. But, crazy good?
The steeplechase isn't really ever tactical like the longer races of super slow first 800 of Champonship 1500. Huling was genuinely racing at Brussels!
When I think of all the guys with PR's under 8:25 we have running right now, I think they need to race more against each other at 8:15 pace. Next year, with a World or Olympics would be a great chance to post some great times!
For an American this year it is big and in a big race.
Except for five other Americans ever, it is a gigantic day anytime it happens! How fast next year?
