It's only the roster from last year with updated class status. This does not guarantee that all of those sophs-seniors will be back to run.

Also, based on what limited stuff I've seen on facebook, I don't think Jarrett will be back until the spring semester. I think he was out for two semesters, not just the 2009 spring semester.

When are the Ivies allowed to begin practices? I recall that their rules make them start later than many other DIs...

Also, question about Cornell: I know they graduated a fair amount. Did they get any really top recruits (on the men's side--I see that they have good numbers on the women's)?

Columbia women could almost win heps off their freshmen recruits alone! shoot, there is no way cornell can place higher. unlikely that brown and harvard can either.

Cornell men's fastest recruits for cross country that I found (as far as I know for times) are Kevin Johnson (9:10m, 4:20m, pretty sure he ran faster than these though), Brett Kelly (9:05m, 4:21m) and Adam Trofa (9:16m, CT champ), so really solid class though not quite at the level of Princeton or Columbia.

The kids from Oregon who are listed are very, very good -

van Rysselburgh (#2) - Columbia

O'Connor - Cornell (ran mostly the 800m)

Kirtner (#3) - Yale

Mathabane - Princeton

There's not many of them (from OR) on the lists, but these are the top kids in the state. It should be interesting!

Also Nick Wade (MA) to Cornell, but he's more a mid-distance guy (1:52 and 4:24).

D'oh!--and Robert Micikas (how did I overlook him?), Penn Relays 3k champ and PRs of 9:12/4:15 for 32/16; and Matt McCullough, 9:19 for yards.

Is this RoJo's best recruiting class ever?

Cornell's men's class is very good - better than Columbia's I believe. They have three guys that have run faster than Columbia's top incoming runner. Princeton's is even better than that.

Columbia and Cornell women have very good incoming classes. Probably a toss-up.

Princeton women did not have a very good recruiting year, but they didn't need one. They will still put 7 in the top 10.

Harvard is still a mystery. Supposedly, they got a few good international runners. We will see soon enough. Most of their top recruits (Jarrett/Reese/Mack) didn't do anything. Saretsky is in year three or four now.

Yale/Penn/Dartmouth men and women have nothing.

Brown - average class/team at best. Lake's 5th year there with no results

Not too sure on these. (I'm not disputing--just literally not sure.)

I do think Saretsky is smart to exploit H's name recognition abroad. Just as Oxford is recognized in the US (even though it's probably not the UK's top university), so the Harvard name is well known abroad (even though it's probably not the US's top university). As a result, H could make a huge jump any time, particularly on the women's side where recruits can have such an immediate impact.

Craig has certainly had some results at Brown, though I grant they've shown more in track than in cross. And I'd heard they had a few hot recruits this year? Anybody know?

The Brown men's and women's programs have been getting worse each year Lake has been there. She took a full track program and has turned it into an average distance program. Both teams scored about 30 points less at Heps this year than they did in her first year - and that was with many seniors who she didn't recruit. Their track program is done.

Should be interesting to see how that goes.

It shall be interesting and that interview proves my point exactly about college recruiting.

Kids will consistently go to inferior programs over and over regardless of the coaching. 18 year olds have no concept of anything but themselves.

They think, "I'm a stud (Cabral) as is Leung and we'll transform them into a national power."

Little do they realize that Princeton has been getting the top studs in the country forever. The 407s and 850s have been going there since I was in school and Chris Lear and crew were going there.

How could anyone possibly think Princeton was a team in transition? You've won 2 or 3 heps in a row with talent that should be a lock for NCAAs.
