baala with 1'43.1/3'28.9 ->~ 46.97 2'12.56 7'32.18his pbs are 1:43.15 2:13.96 3:28.98 4:53.12 looking at his races, he looks 1 paced when running & he never struck me as a 46.9 guy which is incredible speed for a 1500 guyusing something more sensible like 47.5 with 1'43.1, it indicates low-2'12 & low-3'27 ability i believe he did have 3'27 potential but his endurance doesn't "last" perfectly to 1500 & he ends up with high-3'28 rather than low-3'27kiprop also is one-paced & again i'd give him more like mid-47 speed to go with 1'43.1 ( so i'm round about saying kiprop has low-3'27 ability if his endurance lasts "perfectly" to 1500 - it may do, as he has x-country junior WC credentials )guys with devastating 400 speed tend to have devastating kicks - neither baala or kiprop have that
Hypothetically speaking, if an athlete was on EPO wouldn't it have a minimal effect on running a fast flat out 800m (off say a 51 sec first lap), but would have more of an impact enabling the athlete to run a 1:46 last 800m off a slow (lets say 59 sec 3rd lap) 1500m pace, as the speed endurance (as opposed to basic speed) would be greater?
no
if a guy is 1'43/3'26 with or without epo, it means he's perfectly capable of 1'46/1'47 finish in a slow 1500
the epo only allows you to get to 1'43/3'26 - once you've got it you will be exactly the same speed/endurance combo for it as a clean guy - the clock is telling you that
if your assumption was correct then epo guys woud have discernibly different race characteristics to clean guys with same PBs
they don't - epo just allows them to have fast overall PBs - it doesn't give them a bigger kick or longer drive to the finish than a clean guy with same PBs
Ventolin;
I think Vivian might suprise you.She ran 4.06 in Doha in a race that started slowly and had alot of pushing and shoving .Also bear in mind that it was the 1st race of the season.I reckon Vivian at the moment is in 4.03/02 shape.
Do not over relly on your calculations.
i'd luv vivian to win & break it, but 4'02 simply isn't quick enough basic speed to run 5'25
you don't need any fancy calculations - 4'02 pace is 5'22.7 for 2k just extrapolated up & record is 5'25
you are asking a 4'02 gal to run another 500m at virtually the same pace as her 4'02
it's impossible
