Had it occurred to you that perhaps Heath was moving out in hopes of passing Centrowitz?
Heath was at least 6 feet off Centro's shoulder.
Actually have you guys watched the video? Heath was basically totally spent and began to waiver badly, but he pretty much stayed in a straight line in lane two. He never got near Cento and Rupp merely went out wide into lane three as he passed Heath. Wheating just passed heath, following Centro across the finish line in lane one.
The only questionable part of the race was with around 150 to go when McNamara (in lane one and Coe (in lane two) seem to bump each other throwing both of them off stride. Then Coe appeared to bump Wheating as he was passing. As I watched this race a few times I began to wonder "what if" for both Coe and McNamara. I am also beginning to wonder if McNamara might be in the mix at Regionals and Nationals. He is just now rounding into good shape and I have seen the devastating kick that he has when he is fit.
