and while your at it genious, go ahead and tell us about your favorite mens olympic 3,000 meter final.
Why don´t YOU tell us about your favourite men´s olympic 2 mile final (or, at least, indoor WC 2 mile)?
boy you came so late into this you have no idea where your at. the point I made was why did they do a sudden switch of events, the point that SarcasmKing made was that he's a putz, ohh and sarcastically made a point that the 2 mile is an obscure event. so I responded to his point by asking him about his favorite 3K olympic mens final was. stay with me here because that is a sarcastic way of saying that the 3K is also an obscure event for men, much like the mile, 2K, 1K or an indoor 500 meters. meaning when none of them are recognized at any of our national championships or world championships or olympics, why does one bother claiming that one is obscure/legitimate in relation to the other.
so back to the original question, when a meet lists a certain event (i.e. 2 mile) and gets people committed, why would they switch it at the last day or two to a very similar but slightly different distance (i.e. to a 3K)? some people may have committed to the meet for reasons such as p.r. or A.R. chances and then the event is switched. on the flip side, maybe if they had wanted a 3K from the get go, maybe they would lagat going for his 3K AR in boston instead of europe.
so if you are still not with me, i am not making any issue about this distance, but with a last minute decision to switch the distance. imagine if you signed up for the mile and had a 4:00.5 pr and a 3:42 1500 pr. you show up in boston ready to break the elusive barrier to find out you will be running another 1500 and run another 3:42. now these 2-mile/3K guys may not give a crap, but maybe they do. i mean why did lagat not sign up for the 2 mile but go to europe for a 3K?
